Cool. As long as you're accounting for that, you'll go far. It seems to have always been the problem of most Pokemon MU*s back in the day of their prevalence. My advice would be work some Pokemon Go aspects to it, like teams (both an enemy Rocket team or something, as wel as something along the lines of the Go protag teams).
Again if I wasn't already entangled in two projects? I'd totally make a station based Star Trek Game, but I'd likely wind up setting it in TOS which might drive a lot of people away. Then again? Might be fun to set it like right before TNG.

An abundance of plot for high level people, and nothing for low level people.
DEFINITELY something to watch for. Availability of plots between level 4-8, 8-12, and 12+ should be split based on population in each of those zones.

Re: Saga, I think the solution is (and this is true of d20 on MUs in general) pick some level ranges and stick to them.
I'm a fan of PCs running from 4-13, which means that you just need two splits for plots most of the time: 4-8, and 8+.
I thought the whole point of A Shout in the Dark was connecting to people you lost connection to :P
Let me rephrase the question. Does anyone who played there a) remember who they played, b) want to reminisce over who we did and what we did? :P
@jinshei On Dark Spires I know one of my alts was Hera but I can't remember the names of the others. I know one was a Goth girl I probably named Monday or Wednesday with the play by of Wylona Hayashi (Who I am no longer going to be using for my PB of gothic girlie) And I had a shapeshifter. If the wiki was still up I could easily say the names of the others.
@mr-johnson Unfortunately, as each year progresses you're sort of limited in what you can do in WW2 until the war would be finished. I did like that setting though, it was a lot of fun.
There is a new chapter opened up that I haven't had a chance to look at set in the United States called Witchcraft & Wizardry: Dawn's Early Light. Given that I haven't had a look, I can't really give an opinion on it! Go play it and let me know how it goes!
I'd probably be tempted to join in on a WW2 Potterverse or something similar.
