@ThatOneDude When some wild-eyed, eight-foot-tall maniac grabs your neck, taps the back of your favorite head up against the barroom wall, and he looks you crooked in the eye and he asks you if ya paid your dues, you just stare that big sucker right back in the eye, and you remember what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like that: "Have ya paid your dues, Jack?" "Yessir, the check is in the mail."

  • There are times when I stumble over things that are absolutely sublime.

Ladies, gentlemen, other: I present to you cassia wine:

    Newly-acquired bottle of cassia wine

It's so sweet it should be cloying, but ... isn't. It's fruity and has a distinct note of peach to it.

    Related is this tea:

    Yiwu pu'er raw tea

The round one peeking out of the basket, that is, and not the slab-shaped one barely visible. That is a raw pu'er tea from Yiwu, made in 2005. The reason why it's related? It, too, has an oddly fruity note to its aroma when brewed properly. This tea is a perfect complement to the cassia wine.

Of course, I'd be remiss if I didn't also show the way I use to prepare that tea when I want to do it correctly while outside of my home:

    Portable near-"kung fu" tea set

The pen is there for scale, but basically the cups are 50ml in size. (A normal tea mug is closer to about 250ml.) While not brewing tea quite as good as a proper "kung fu" set, it comes very close and is much easier to carry around. (It even comes with a lovely case, not shown, for convenience.)

Edit: Also, the new Mad Max movie? I want to go spend my entire pay check seeing that absolutely ridiculous film. Love it.

Now I want to see it.

  • Spending time with the partner doing mundane things, like shopping.
And going back to look for pants that fit and finding out that, not only are they on a good clearance for like $15, but there's also an extra 33% off sale, and getting to refill the wardrobe for much cheaper than you expected.

  • I love a lot of things!

    Cats and kittens.
Reading all the things: SF/Fantasy/Horror - I especially like Military SF, Urban Fantasy, Post-Apoc, Dystopias, Ecological works like David Gerrold's 'Chtorr' books and Octavia Butler's 'Xenogenisis' series and the horror works of Clive Barker.
Music - Classic Rock, Native American, New Age, Celtica.
Getting food that we normally can't have because of expense: oooh, bacon!
    Generally being OK.

Why does she have Sakura's wand from Cardcaptor Sakura?!

  • Pitcrew

Between this and Gravity Falls and Star Wars: Rebels, Disney is bringing its A-Game while Cartoon Network starts its re-runs of King of the Hill at 8 PM.

Well, that's not true. They have "Steven Universe" and "Adventure Time" which they will show maybe every other day in between marathons of Uncle Grandpa.

  • Politics

@Bobotron I have no idea, I just watched it this morning with my son and went... This is hilarious :)

  • @The-Tree-of-Woe
I miss carton network having decent, non-anime programming. I went to lunch one day and they had a TV on cartoon network (kid-friendly place during the summer) and there was something called Angry Orange that was on, and something called Gumball. The 'cartoon overlaid on top of a real image' was jarring when I looked up at it.

I swear, CN just needs to buy the rights to bunches of 80s and 90s cartoons and call it a day.

    O'Neill

"Actually, I'm O'Neill. With two L's. That's the other guy, with one L. He has no sense of humor."

  • Pitcrew

Amazing World of Gumball is visually jarring sometimes but it is incredibly well-written with great gags and pacing. It included maybe the best dozens put-down I've ever heard:

"Your mother's so ugly that even the warts on her face spell out 'UGLY' in braille."

It's just that CN is resorting to the formula it's used since Ed, Edd, N' Eddy of finding something that sucks and padding out the schedule with it. Mostly, I'm getting tired of "retard humor", where the joke is that the protagonist is, quite literally, mentally retarded.

There's a fine line between The Mayor of Townsville (hilarious) and Uncle Grandpa (not) but I don't know enough about comedy to give that lecture.

  • Politics

@Bobotron WHAT! Gumballllll is the best! My 6 year old son laughs so hard at Gumball, and its cool enough that I laugh at it too :)

  • @ThatOneDude
I just found it jarring, is all. I also don't get most things people find funny.

  • You know who REALLY dropped the ball? Nickelodeon. They used to have AMAZING after-school shows for kids. Now its just... meh.

  • Pitcrew

Nick has TMNT. That's basically it.

  • Pitcrew

    Nick also has Power Rangers.
