@surreality As far as I know it was found images, not taken by that poster— but I don’t remember well because I think I WTF’d off the forum for a while. And yeah it was posted to Seiche’s LJ too.

@ganymede Let’s see... I got linked to 2girls1cup, tubgirl*, Mr. Hands**, goatse, and a dead body being violated***.

Mr. Hands and the last are the ones that upset me. Mr. Hands because I have vague memories of the dude screaming in pain and bestiality and the latter because of the violation of some poor girl’s body and the implication that I’d just witnessed murder photos.

The rest was just gross not upsetting.

        • Actually someone posted a gif of it to WORA.
      • ** This is what I think that video of the dude being fucked by the horse is called.

      • *** Again this was posted in WORA. Thanks WORA some really awful shit happened on you.

The room you log into still talks about werewolves, last I saw.

Thank you for pointing that out, I’ll get that fixed after I’ve had some sleep. (Not at home right now).

The "wiki" was just a wikidot with a cover page and character pages.

We do have +news up, actually thanks to @JinShei (I believe). Though to be honest they need to be gone through and updated— I’ve been focused more on getting people IC. And well work. Plus this particular wiki is temporary.

I don’t want to rag on the game, but acting like they pulled off some miracle because they copy/pasted a 10 year old MU is....pretty weird and feels very MSB circle jerk-y.

While I appreciate @surreality’s kind words, I don’t think anyone involved in the game thinks we’ve pulled off something super awesome. My point is whether or not it’s slow coming on here and saying it’s slow isn’t going to help draw players.

(Personally I don’t think it’s going to particularly slow except in my updating things for the reboot. Those who are there and approved are RPing plenty.)

Less of a peeve and more of a discomfort:

It is VERY COLD yes. But I’d appreciate it more if you had your money ready to go when I get to your door more than you inviting me to step into your home. I am NOT supposed to go into your home. Also I am sure you are very nice, but I don’t know you from Bob. For my safety AND comfort please don’t invite me inside no matter how cold it is.

Just have your stuff together so we can make our transactions and I can get back in my car.

@Admiral Okay! Misunderstandings happen, I apologize if my post came off sharp, like I said I was off a 10hr shift (technically close to 10.5-10.75hr shift) that ended with me being shouted at and literally driving away with (mild) worries for my safety.

The Darkwater reboot has gotten off to a slow start, unfortunately.

I was pretty hyped to see it come back. Still, it's been fun.

This kind of post is not helpful. I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and believe you actually did mean it as a call for more players. But you should have posted something along the lines of: "Man, I'm hyped for the reboot of Darkwater! More people come play with us!".

The past tense of "was hyped", coupled with "this is slow" is not helpful in anyway to the recruitment of players. It sends the idea that it's boring and there isn't anything to do.

Which might or might not be the case.

But, seriously, you can take a chill.

I just worked a 10hr day, came home and all but vegetated like an idiot and then even put in a little bit of time STing on the heels of a scene that @Insomnia ran as Tyla, because players did something spontaneously and I was around to answer 'what would happen if'.

I also gave both Puce and Neon some information and directions on part of the opening plot that they can easily take and run with, since my schedule is shitty and I'm not-- like I said both here and on the game --going to be around to ST 2-scenes a week like I did the last time the game ran.

@cupcake Yes, but I have everything open. Everything. 😛 Marches down to Baronies.

      @Roz @Sparks

Okay, cool. That's totally understandable and what I figured would be the case. I was just suddenly a little worried that it would be like 'Voices must be social leaders', rather than 'Voices who aren't social voices will need help sometimes'.

I try as my character to stick to my lanes and not start pushing into other people's niches just because I have the XP for it. My prince is clearly written to be not great a politics, but he could become a military commander trying to follow in the footsteps of his uncle. Where as my duchess is more of a social character and has no business in combat, ever. I try not to cross those streams.

Well. I mean - yes, I think what we're saying here is that we're putting in considerable effort to keep this from happening, because it's weird to have Combat Joe Who Has No Social Skills And Does Not Afraid Of Anything in charge of diplomatic efforts.

I think it's a great thing to focus on.

How do you deal with the (obviously exaggerated) example I gave above though? The House Voice who's a combat-character, and thus has the authority (but not the coded skill) to be part of or even lead diplomatic missions because of their rank?

The short answer is, we are trying to design a system where ignoring the social status of yourself (your rep) and your house will begin to impact what Combat Joe the Voice wants to do. If you ignore prestige and never do anything diplomatic or work social angles, when you go to call your banners for war....well...

When you go to manage your domain and see the productiveness of your NPCs is shit and it's affecting your bottom line, you might start to think about delegating to and involving the social characters in your house.

Erhm, does this mean that people (me) who are playing combat focused voices and who have tried to stay in our lane (e.g I have leadership but haven’t gone too far into other social skills because I’m. Not sheeted that way), will start hurting our houses by being voice without being social?

Noto bene: Sorry of types— phone.

In case anyone is considering joining arx! I have some vassal slots open under Farshaw / Westrock Reach! You'd need four players to app in together, and hopefully to be active! But I'd love to have more folks for the Reach!

To be clear: I don’t have plans to add ANYTHING right now. Not mage, not werewolf, nada. Like my addendum said: that was two am Cobalt speaking.

@Tributary is my SanCheck, and I’m pretty sure she’d veto Mage because like she mentioned she likes the simplicity we had.

Frankly, the more I think about it the more I LIKE the simplicity we had. If I’m just doing changeling and mortal plots? That’s only one group of people (because mortals can be pulled in easily) to ST for. There’s no need to come up with multiple plots or keep different tracks up, etc.

And while I think Darkwater: The Magening has great players... it was also single sphere.

    • RE: Darkwater: The Return

@ganymede Oh, I know Lithium meant Werewolf 2E. And I'm not putting werewolf in. 1E or 2E into the game. I've a super violent DO NOT WANT reaction to it.

I handed a group of players a rank 5 locus (because it was there pre them via story stuff from before when werewolf was opened), and they threw a fit at me that I wouldn't let them move the locus.

The locus was the porch of a particularly bad house on Baker Street, and they wanted to dismantle the porch and take it to their pack house. When I said: Uh, that'll destroy the locus. They threw a goddamned tantrum.

And then there was the non-stop innuendo and suggestion that all WB players were just there to be sex-toys on werewolf channel. That I, in my player bit, would ask people to stop. That I, in my staffbit, would ask people to stop. That I, as the game head, finally went to Tributary with complaints because people would not stop.

I cannot remember a single thing about the implementation of werewolf on Darkwater (save for personal RP between my PC and another player's PC), that did not cause me stress or anger. I'm not doing it again. Even if 2E werewolf is a very different game.

      I'm not doing it again.

@lithium Fuck werewolf with a rusty spoon. No. Never.

(Ahem, more rationally. Adding werewolf 1.0 is, to me, a large part of what killed any enjoyment I had in running Darkwater. While Spider had a big hand in tainting the waters in general. Werewolf came with a host of things that included me the game owner filing complaints to Tributary about player behavior in werewolf.)
