      Hi, all. Mechanipus is (as has been stated on the website) no longer open for customers. Existing games can continue however long they wish, but things are a mess and I don't have the time.

      Note: this probably means I can't answer a lot of questions. All those wonderful, well-meaning questions like "Can you get the flatfile from my game on (some random date three years ago)? Can you set up my wiki? Can you set up my forum? Can you code my whole game and make everything perfect?" etc... No. Just, no. I ❤ you guys, but I'm done.

      Hopefully once I've recuperated enough to actually RP again I'll be more in-the-mood, but for now, you'd best find hosting elsewhere.

      That said-- if you're a moderately competent unix system administrator and want to do your own mush hosting business (You're mad-- truly mad) then I'm happy to offer advice and configuration recommendations.

      In particular, people that are comfortable with shells and setting up MUX games could be very useful in getting the mechanipus fork of MUX into a more end-user usable state, if people are still interested in that. If not, well; it'll keep. It's all on github, but no I won't build it for you and set everything up.

      It is by will alone I set my mind in motion. It is by the juice of Coffea arabica that thoughts acquire speed, the table acquires stains, the stains become a warning. It is by will alone I set my mind in motion.

        @Chime:

        I would like to make a "Darkwater nWoD" bare-bones game database, complete with your quiet room that's ready to run.

        Hell yes I'm interested.

          That sounds like a pretty reasonable goal. Problem I'm running into currently? The main mechanipus branch builds fine, but has a very different (and much more modern) autoconf tool suite. This means: installing into the ../game tree? No. It doesn't do that.

          I probably need to sit down and write up a more complete automake setup to install all the things in all the right places, so that a fairly modest example config line will work for most people.

          Right now, though, even building MUX has been too big a barrier for most people. I come from the OpenSource and C/C++ communities, so I like to say, "Go download ___ from git and build it," but most of the mushers aren't quite sure what a shell is. ...this creates large headaches, but I suppose we'll get there eventually.

          That said, oddly enough Brazil is still working on MUX.
