It's finally here.
I know a fair number of us have been waiting for this one. I'm shocked it's out before the end of the year, to be honest!

@auspice And there goes $45.00...

I haven't decided where to back at.
I really really want the hardcopy, but having just bought a car, I'm not sure I can budget it.
-
If it wasn't Onyx Path I'd consider it.
But no thank you.

@auspice
You have 28 days....you could donate blood for money twice in that time. -

I could not have spent $25 faster.

I am, unfortunately, ultrabroke in a country whose currency is worth a thirtieth of a dollar, so I will be delighted from way the fuck back here.

Given Changeling still isn't out, and given all the backpedaling and apologizing they throw out at the bottom <as well as citing Pugmire as one of their 'successes'>...
I'm not enthused. I'll wait for it on retail. Alternately, I'll wait to die and make a deal with an otherworldly, life-challanged entity myself. I feel that to be the more likely option. -

Fuck, at this rate, I should open my own Kickstarter, given how long Changeling has been languishing.

RE: Changeling - From what I heard, they axed the head writer and filled it with a bunch of alt-right edgelord stuff.
At least, that's what David Hill said.

Fuck that shit, then, I might as well do this shit myself.
-
We could just do it all ourselves. Changeling. Geist. Add some Kuei-Jin in there. I mean at this point I think we could write-up some badass fan-supplements faster than they could produce actual content.

Yes, but then it'd be our home-grown content and not universal. Much of the appeal of using an established, public system is that you can get fans to play the game more or less as it was written.
Rewriting an existing system seems more restrictive than making your own completely from scratch. For example why use the Vampire: the Requiem branding instead of going with your own vampire mechanics as a brand new game?

That's what I figure. I already bare-bones wrote new write-ups and concepts for Seemings, Kiths, and Houses (Courts). It'd take me a few more hours to flesh those out, and then hit the Contracts.
Going back over it all, it's all Greek (literally), but it has been over a year since I touched the material. I think a lot of my inspiration came from the Eight Colors of Emotions, and the fable of Actaeon.
-
I'd wait for Changeling to come out and then just remove all the garbage content.
You might even hit up David Hill and see if he wants to assist. As badly as OPP screwed him over (I hear they actually did rewrites in order to minimize his 'credit' for the book) I imagine he'd be willing to at least advise.
Also? Fuck White Wolf and Zak Smith. For real. I that he did a 'prelude interaction fiction' released on steam and named a character after a trans-author he disliked.
This character spouts ultra left-wing politics at people, talks about her penis, and kills people who react badly to her. I can't confirm that, as I won't be buying that steaming pile of shit to check it myself.

This is the point I got to on things as well. It is more work, but it's easier work. And it can be tailored to what is reasonable/more sustainable in our environment -- namely, considering what can be easily automated (some math and timed adjustments can be automated without tons of stress), keeping certain things more uniform in terms of pre-reqs or at least not making every goddamned thing some byzantine collection of exceptions (some shit that's easy to glance over on a sheet and tick off and make a judgement call on some relevant fluff can be a nightmare to code so that no one needs to glance over a sheet or make a judgement call), and taking the whole 'things people would never try at a table without being murdered by a swarm of dice being thrown at them will absolutely occur sooner or later and potentially often in an anonymous online environment' problem into account.

I'd assume David Hill, who is active and vocal on FB.
