The biggest problem with WORA going down (PS: it might not be fully lost; we're still sending field agents to check, since the server host whoosit wasn't/isn't actually with anyone we know) is that it's so tough to let folks know about updates.

True-that. I started spreading the word, but made the mistake of going to the Reach first. They shat porcupines. Backwards. And that kinda put me off from mentioning it further, so someone should probably talk about it on the G+ mushing circles if they haven't already.

It is by will alone I set my mind in motion. It is by the juice of Coffea arabica that thoughts acquire speed, the table acquires stains, the stains become a warning. It is by will alone I set my mind in motion.

Just for the lols, could you clarify who 'they' were or what 'shitting porcupines' entailed in this case please?

Just general raving about how wora was a hive of scum and villainy (which is moderately true) and that various bad things (doxing) happened to various people at various times. The idea that someone might set up another mush-related forum which might or might not have a different emphasis and character was completely alien and incomprehensible to them.

No, I won't say who. I can't tell anyway; I swear they shuffle city names every month or so, but there are plenty of good people left and mocking an entire game for a handful of people freaking out over a source of past trauma seems... well, wora-ish.

We can do better than that; focus on the constructive.

Oh, I didn't care about names (which I probably wouldn't recognize any more anyway), just if it was staff or regular players, which you did answer.

My concern is that people who play on TR feel "WORA" in general has some beef with "them" rather than the way the game is being ran. Speaking for myself (and quite possibly for others, too) any antipathy shown in TR-related posts is because we love the game yet loathe seeing how it has turned out.

But if what's scraped from the bottom of a barrel to staff there had an issue with uncensored criticism, well, I can live with that. 🙂

I think most of the WORA posters still play on TR and I can't say I've seen much 'us v them'-ness going on.

Well, aside from a select few players on TR who really, really deserve all the rage and bile that was thrown at them on WORA.

I agree with Admiral. I don't think people are this paranoid anymore, especially since there really isn't a Wora unless you (you specifically, the person reading this post) wants there to be.

Everyone is afraid that people will bad-mouth them, make their lives harder than they need to be, and undermine their trust. Hell, look how I can flip out when I think someone's doing it to me.

People immediately disliking a forum is a risk when it's open and has lighter than usual moderation. This is why I've tried to stay in the background here, posting far less than I used to. If things change to become more trustworthy, then there's a better chance of collaboration, which means a better chance of new games and healthy playgroups.

Of course that means you (the person reading this post) also has to change. New forum, new year, new you.
