Cheap or Free Games!

I have been thinking about this because of Dawn of War 3 as well, I really liked DoW 1 and 2. Not familiar with the Endless * games but it had nice artwork which is a plus. Total War Warhammer is an /outstanding/ game too.
-
Endless space 2 is a good game. I consider it stellaris light with a touch of rpg
-
They did a really good job with Endless Space 2. I really love the series.
-
I have not heard good things about Dawn of War 3 and the knock on Endless Space 2 is that it is too much like the original. But if you liked the original, that's not necessarily a bad thing. Either way the sale on it is great.
-
DoW 3 is more akin to a MOBA than the other games. They removed cover and most of the customization options.
It's all about spamming units, getting heroes, then winning. Nothing else. No strategy.
-
That sucks. DoW 1 and 2 were pretty good games I still play.

Dungeons II is free on GoG right now.
Also more games available on connect too.
-
@insomnia Dungeons II is a solid pick up especially for free, it might not be for everyone but I found it fun. Kind of like a newer version of Dungeon Keeper in a way. Not the same, but... man I would love an upgraphic'd Dungeon Keeper...

What I'm jonesing for is a good free (or cheap if that's all I can get) roguelike game, either for an older iPad (4gen) or via Steam. I have a few but they're a bit on the meh side.

I was gonna suggest Spelunky, but it's not as broad on platforms as I thought it was.
-
Aw. Thanks, though.
-
Are the old school ascii ones doable on iPad? Like Moria's descendents?
-
They are. I have a few of those and they play very well.
-
@apu
Dungeon of the Endless is a pretty decent rogue-like. You could also check out Sword of the Stars: The Pit. -
Thanks! I'll give those a looking for tonight.
-
What is 'rogue like'?
-
They started out as ascii games with randomly-generated maps and mobs. They have evolved from that a bit, games being what they are, but the original ascii-based graphics will always be what is near and dear to my heart.
-
@apu I love the old games like that, rogue was so much fun, when you died your next play through you could run into your old characters ghost, no real graphics to speak of but imagination.
-
@apu
Sure thing! I wanted to also add Dungeons of Dredmor and Crypt of the Necrodancer. Those are pretty fun ones too.
