Bump In The Night: A Chronicles of Darkness MUX
-
Bump in the Night is a Chronicle of Darkness (formerly New World of Darkness 2nd Edition) game set in Southern Maryland in the modern day.
Player Characters on BITN are humans, mere mortals (or on occasion, psychics and the minorly gifted) who are aware of, and concerned with, The Supernatural. The protagonists of BITN are those who have been exposed to the horrors that lurk in the dark. Some are victims of the horrors out there, having survived and escaped the monsters and looking for justice, or revenge. Some are civil servants who have uncovered the truth. Others still are scholars or persons of faith who stumbled on the truth, and seek to study or destroy it.
The aim for Bump in the Night is to tell exciting, pulse pounding horror stories of taking the fight to (or sometimes simply escaping from) the monsters of the world. Staff and player-STs will provide both one off Monster of the Week plots and longer term arcs. During downtime, players will be free to socialize and RP across our grid.
Our site is bitnmux.com
**We are now accepting applications, but we will not be officially opening until March 1st, 2016. You are free to look around, make a character and even do soft RP. But until we officially open staff will not be processing XP spends, running plots, or much of anything besides getting our ducks in a row. If you have any questions, feel free to page any staffers you see around.
Good luck, and welcome to BITN!**

Dude, we got this far in 72 days. The concept for BITN was first proposed in Skype on December 17th, and now it is a thing.
My team is fucking awesome.

I'll second that. 72 days is pretty cool. I'm all for recycling, especially if it gets us cool places to play that quickly. But I think the thing that impressed me the most was that you set a date for it to open and then met it. I confess, I fully expected the date to be pushed back at least twice, so even though I was really wanting it to open up on time, I didn't think it would. I thought I'd have more time to consider what I wanted to play.

@Warma-Sheen The trick is to set a date once you know it can be met. When I initially started, I wanted to have research done by end of January. Then we got ahead of schedule, and I was like "Maybe by April" but then it became clear we could make it sooner, so I said it then.
-
@tragedyjones was actually thinking April 1st. So, he did move the opening date... that fiend.
-
I shall be playing Joan there, or atleast pretend to do so. Already approved and all.

That was the actual April Fool's prank: not actually opening on April Fool's Day.

What you should have done was multiplied by a factor of four before giving the estimate for opening. Then you'd be considered a miracle worker for opening so soon.

@TNP Rumor is people bug the crap out of you after a few months regardless. @tragedyjones just didn't wanna deal with that, I bet.

Beautifully done wiki! Love it.

Oh haaaay guys, we're totally live noe.
-
@SunnyJ Thank you. I am glad they let me test some of my crackpot theories on it.
-
@surreality Your work is second to none! Huge fan!
-
Damn it. I don't know what to play.

How long will a character live with the Disabled (Persistant) condition? Because I got a muse that won't shut up.

Un, it depends really. If they investigate hauntings and such, maybe a long time. If they go tracking werewolves through the woods probably not long

DOUBLEPOST: We are currently down due to a fatal SIGSEGV error. Will attempt to get someone to perform maintenance this evening if it doesn't resolve.

You could always find a kind, hinged, scrupulous, principled Aidos scientist to maybe inject you with lizard DNA and regrow your limbs?
