Hey there! I played Tolssk! I bask in your hate. Not because I deserve it, but because the "good guys" on DOD were always whining bullies, especially you, oh-player-of-Hale. Hale, incidentally, is a fine character, not weak at all. You think that Hale sucks because you don't know how to play a jedi. It's hard to RP a serene jedi when your player is gibbering with fear on a no-consequence game.

3CH0 there also had great build, btw. If it wasn't for Obie's silly HRs you guys probably would have stomped me. Your attitude clearly needs some adjustment, however.

So, a little history lesson: guess what? We, your ruthless villains, were always afraid, too. There were lots more of you than there were of us. Difference: we overcame it and did things, while you sulked. When the good guys ganged up on us, we got back up, dusted ourselves off, bought jetpacks, and tried again. Ironic to let fear control you on a star wars game, where you're all playing jedi and we're playing evil jerks, but there you have it.

As for Obie: I spent three days telling you why Tolssk was unplayable, now you see it for yourself and silent ban me! Congratulations! On the good side, your HRs are mostly well written. Your plot was good! Unfortunately, going around silent-banning people (more precisely: tolssk was @newpassed overnight) demonstrates you are inadequate as a staffer. If this game is your first product to manage, you've failed before launch. You should think carefully if you're going into the right field. What will you do when your stakeholders insist on things you disagree with? Also, your invitation to our tabletop game is revoked, we don't let mean, passive-aggressive bullies into our games. I'd page you on the mush to tell you, but, well, see above for the silent ban.

My take on the game: this is made by and for the bad parts of the jedi sphere from Generations of Darkness and Dawn of Defiance. They will have their own sandbox to play in. Nothing bad will ever happen to anyone unless they specifically request it, and, therefore, nothing much will ever happen. There will be plots, some of them decent, but everything will be back to normal after each half-hour episode. There will be a two-week burst of excitement, and then a two month wind-down as Obie struggles with running 100% of the events by himself, until it is Obie and three jedi friends and their alts, as Obie will have quietly banned anyone who ever wanted to do anything interesting (they "wanted to win too much" - trust me, Obie, the good guys wanted to win just as badly as I did. They just also think they should get a gold star for showing up) and everyone else gets bored and leaves.

Talk about revisionist history! "It then became Dawn of Defiance." So the game just up and turned itself into a brand new game? And gave itself to Ataru? The staff stole the game wholesale from Vaapad. I don't care how crazy Vaapad was, you don't steal someone's entire game. If you have issues with someone's game you leave and you start your own brand new game, not a stolen db where you continue on like nothing happened.

Vapaad got the code base from someone else back in the day, just like Zero did before him. Neither of them knew how to set it up. Zero had Dahan set up NJO, and later on, Vapaad had either Dahan or Ashen-Shugar set up GoD. I think AS, because Dahan had quit due to Zero, who then persuaded AS to fix things on NJO until AS got fed up with him, too. I am honestly not certain if Vapaad got the code base from AS or from Dahan.

Vapaad left Ataru in charge while he was off doing other things (specifically he was telling Ataru he was too sick to mush, while hanging out on a vampire game). Fast forward a bit, Einara had won the clone wars and it was about to wrap up with a CIS victory, a reduced but still extant Republic with Tarkin in charge, and Palpatine defeated, As an aside: this judgement was made by Ataru and co, as the NPC Tarkin not Einara herself. We didn't find out until much later how close we got to an actually good star wars game.

Anyway, Vapaad peeked in. He discovered that Palpatine was about to lose, and he threw a fit. "Palpatine is Emperor as of today or I shut down the game forever." Ataru and his crew of staff caved. Einara's plotlines were overruled, Order 66 happened, Einara's contingency plans to save the jedi went into effect, Tolssk went to Coruscant in the middle of the battle and herded them on the ships, etc. etc. Vapaad also warned staff not to breathe a word about it to anyone and claim it was the plan all along or else, as above, he'd shut down the game forever. We all blamed Ataru, and only found out years later. About a third of the player base left.

Vapaad, satisfied, made some spooky poses as Palpatine, then went off to do other things again. A few months later he pops back on. Ataru was doing staff things, Vapaad told him, "drop whatever you are doing and run me a scene between Yoda (which was his exclusive npc) and Palpatine (also his exclusive npc) or i shut down the game right now" - so Ataru said "goodbye" and used AS's backup of the game to set up DoD, and that's the same copy Obie used to set up his new game.

@Tirit So I'm not really a Python programmer or anything, but I HAVE played a bunch of SR5. Life Paths as written tend to give you a bunch of silly results; KarmaGen at the level they recommend (800) probably gives you more balanced but on the whole weaker characters than priority. As a bonus, though, you won't have to code Priority cg separately, you just give people blank sheets and 800 karma and dump them into the normal xp routine 🙂
