For those who couldn't make the opening event, don't feel like you missed your chance to jump in. It was lots of fun but super chaotic; amid the opening poses of survivors first washing ashore on the island, a lot will have been missed without the chance to reread the first scene. You can achieve the same sort of "introduce your character" moment (maybe better) by posting a vignette, like this one here. There are also many plausible reasons for why your character wasn't involved in the initial exploration, e.g. they may have been mistaken for a dead body or been recovering from shock/injuries.
