Genosha (Interest Poll)

It was never my intention to look flaky what so ever. In the original post (which I took down) it was stated, clearly, that this did not put a hold on the Fallout project what so ever, and that it was still first and foremost. Really, it was a flight of fancy and just a question. I don't think just asking should ever be a bad idea. You'll never know unless you ask.
I understand that putting this thread here, though, was possibly not the right call, but I wasn't sure where to toss the idea out to.
For now, though, maybe this thread would serve better in the mildly constrictive thread, as it no longer has anything to do with a game advert. Is there an admin I should tag to get this moved should the thread continue?

@rizbunz there has been a half dozen or more interest checks (one of them my own after noticing the trend) put into the game dev area
-
@magee101 Thanks! I'll keep that in mind for next time.
-
@coin Sorry to disappoint A Staffer suggested we just keep it in our back pocket for now, and I think we'll do that. Should it pop up again, hey...it'll be on here ^_^

Just a quick Question since the original post was up and gone while i had to actually be productive for a couple of hours, what is Genosha?
The only think I can come up with in my head is Marvel's Island country just off the cost of Africa that get decimated a lot and alternates being a repressive country built on the back of mutant slave labor and being a country for mutants. -

This culture of "OMG INSULTS! INSULT! THAT OFFENDED ME! CENSOR!!!" is not healthy.

I'm keeping this one as a reminder, yes, of the rules of engagement. The post was originally in Ads, but as others pointed out: it didn't belong there. It has been moved. The rules apply going forward.
You have your Hogpit thread now, congratulations.

Disagreements are, of course, to be expected, but they should be kept to a professional capacity: disagree with the idea, not the person. Attack the idea, not the person. Posts containing personal attacks will be deleted.
It's looking like people can take disagreements and criticism of their ideas as personal attacks and just yell how they feel insulted and shut down dissenting voices.

You directly attacked Faraday, which is in violation of what you quoted above.
Additionally, I had specifically requested people take the argument out of this thread as it is not a place for it.You have a thread where you can say whatever you wish now, please take it there.

PSA (to everybody around here, not just Riz) : Stop posting about how "you're thinking about making an XYZ game" or saying you're working on a thing MONTHS AND MONTHS before it's ever going to happen. You're completely killing any "opening excitement" your game could have had. People stop giving a shit after a few months of seeing you post about your stuff.
If I am going to pay for a server, and a coder I'm going to make damn sure that people are interested enough in it to be worth my time and money, even if it's just for a small number of people compared to hat a big game might pull in. If there is minimal or no interest after I've put in that money would be a waste for me. If there is only table top sized interest I might try to do something on Discord, Fantasy Grounds, or Table Top Simulator.
I will agree that advertisements probably isn't the best place for a game that's not open in any way, but that's already been dealt with.

It is a good way to see what people think and maybe get some volunteers. Trying and failing is one hundred times better than being told to not try at all. Just because most games die in the conception phase doesn’t mean that the conception should never take place. It certainly is the best time for a game to die, but goddamn how many people remember being kids and just making things up?
Making Things Up is fun as hell! This isn’t time wasted; it’s time enjoyed.

That said, I would have to be hard pressed to play a superhero game. I just don’t get the allure. What about Genosha (which I had to look up) is exciting for a setting?
-
@thenomain Oh I get that. That's why I listed some alternatives at the bottom. I'm more replying to the "Hey people stop doing this, it is dumb!" part. (Having just posted an interest check on my own recently.)

@auspice Thank you so much for moving it! Apologies for going to the wrong place.
-
@thatguythere You are correct. However, the idea was to set it AFTER it was liberated and turned into an island for Mutants that is FREE of persecution. It was also going to deal with more Brotherhood based idealies.

No problem! Wrong boards happen sometimes. It's why it's handy to move. Feel free to message me, Gany, or Ark if you (or anyone!) need a post of yours shuffled around.
-
@auspice Thanks again! I wasn't sure who to pester about it. That, and I didn't like feeling as if I /was/ pestering >.<.

@rizbunz
Though it seems like the ship has sailed it could be a fun game. And I would be happy to see a superhero game not set on the eastern seaboard of the US. -
@thatguythere It's not exactly sailed as just put on hold. We're busy with our golden goose that is our Fallout game, so Genosha isn't lost, it's just on the back-back burner. Should things flow well and there's extra time in our lives, we might do it as a side project anyway! At that time, I'll just post an advert and see what happens.
