Help me! ANSI coloring program?
-
Okay, so this is mostly aimed at the Firan survivors who know wtf I'm talking about. Hell, I think <whoop had name wrong> made one, or was that somebody else? Looking for one of those programs that lets you color ascii and then converts it to code. One that works with 256 would be nice, but is not required, I'd be alright with the old one that only worked with the 16 colors.
ETA : If this is not the best section of the forum for this, feel free to move it!

You could get a Mac and use Atlantis, which has it built in. That's probably not helpful.
-
Thanks, but yeah.
Though, I guess I could use one of the macs at the college tmrw after class, if I really want to. Assuming they haven't disabled the program or something.
-
Can you give an example of the what you expect to type and what you expect to be the output?
-
I expect to be able to take a piece of ASCII art, copy/paste it into the program, and then highlight pieces of it and apply colors, then when I'm done, hit "convert" and it will give me the code to make that ascii art (meaning, with line returns and stuff) but also with the color code in it.
Kind of like the ascii2mu converter, but with ansi code too.

@Tempest Sorry, I haven't seen anything like that before.

I used to have one back in my Firan days, but... I cannot for the life of me remember what I used now...

You're looking for this:
https://github.com/wyrdathru/TheCreationist.
https://github.com/wyrdathru/TheCreationist/releasesIt was Daranos' player that wrote the program and I'm not sure if he's still supporting it/working on it or not. It was much better than A2A however, which was the standard 16 colour one which everyone used.
I know Daranos' player reads this forum, so you could put maybe put a shout out for him.

AHA! Yeah A2A was what I used. Never tried that other one.

Thanks bunches.

Thanks for chiming in, @Pondscum !
I was slowly pushing toward adding in support for different MU* engines and automated colouring via patterns and rules, but since I've barely touched any text-based games lately, it's been less of a priority.
@Tempest , I used it on Windows 10 recently but only for the briefest few seconds. If you (or anyone else still using it?) have any problems and/or feature requests, just nudge me on MSB or log a ticket on Github.
