Anyone taken a stab at trying to code Modiphius' 2d20 system? (Conan, John Carter, Star Trek, Infinity (Corvus Bell), Mutant Chronicles, etc). Seems like it could be an untapped resource for a system that could be used across multiple games.

Delete the Hog Pit. It'll be fun.

At one time I was thinking about doing a Star Trek game with this system but I ultimately gave up on the idea for the same reason that I gave up on FATE and FFG Star Wars: the system is very "GM-centric". It works best with a small group of experienced players with oversight from a competent, inspired GM. Also, I couldn't find a single compelling reason to use it over, say, LUG Trek or Decipher Trek (which is more or less just a mutant D20 system, which many people already know). I just didn't think it was that good. I also own Conan but I have not read it yet, so have no opinion on that version.

        Just my two cents. YMMV.

It remains the same issue. 2D20 is very Fate-esque in that there is a metacurrency (Fate Points in Fate, and the name varies all over the place in 2d20), that is designed that a GM is designed to get some of these points and spend them "against" you to make the challenges balanced. This requires not just a GM, but a good GM; you can't have someone whose goal is "kill all those $%^& players."

And the difficulty balance is absolutely intended that you NEED to spend these points to succeed at what you want. (Literally. In 2d20, difficulties go up to 5. You only have 2 dice with which to get successes. To get more, you must spend this metacurrency; 1 point gets you 1 dice.)

I don't see any way you could make this happen without a level of staff activity and interaction that most games aren't going to have. I love the games, and they work great...AT the table, with players who understand you are all playing together to tell a good story.

Without those conditions, it falls apart. Like many things, not every RPG ports to a Mush environment well.

I will eventually read this system when the Fallout RPG drops.

I've played it quite a bit, but as others have said... definitely not for MU. At least not large-scale fast-paced MU. Could potentially work for a MU-based-online-tabletop thing, though.

@Ghost If you're looking for a generic system suitable for a wide range of settings/games, why not consider TinyD6, MiniD6 or even-- my personal favorite-- QuestCore?

I'm familiar with Tiny. I've done some gaming with the creators. Was just more wondering if someone tried stabbing at 2d20 that's all
