      Welcome to PernWorld, we’re glad you stopped by!

      We are a MUSH community based on the Dragonriders of Pern series created by Anne McCaffrey. Players create and play characters within the theme where dragons and technology mesh together for an experience unlike any other. Currently we have four PC Weyrs (Fort, Xanadu, Igen, and Monaco Bay), one PC Weyrhold (Ierne), one PC Hold (Stonehaven), and a variety of crafting areas in which you can play and develop your character. While some locations are ‘off camera’ they do still exist and others which occasionally host a clutch but are not generally considered PC.

      If you’re interested in joining us, please feel free to have a look around our wiki at http://pernworld.wikidot.com/theme to give you some idea as to what each has to offer. If you have any questions, feel free to connect to the game where our helpful staff can answer them to the best of their ability even if you know nothing about the theme. Our player base is a mix of new and veteran players, and we welcome anyone who’s interested in interactive storytelling.

      Current Events: Monaco Bay Weyr at PernWorld Mush will open OOC Search on April 3rd, and will be accepting applications until April 18, 2021! Their wiki can be found at http://monacobayweyr.wikidot.com.

      PernWorld Mush is rated PG13~

      Again, welcome to PernWorld and we look forward to seeing you on the game!

        Asking as one who has always wanted to play on a Pern mu* but never read the books, how welcoming is your game to people who are new to the theme?

            Maaaaaan, all the nostalgia feels. I actually found my old Dragonrider's Guide in my garage a couple of summers ago while cleaning it out. Surely a sign from the universe.

            "I have no idea why you think the sun shines out of her ass, honey, but she's a liar..."
            You've never seen my ass to know for sure.

              @tiredewok, I might be a bit belated, but most folks are friendly and helpful, especially if you're open about being new (default really is to assume someone's return-ing from a who-knows-how-long-hiatus).

              Pernworld's wiki has this page on what Technology and society changes have happened in the game since it's set post-All the Weyrs of Pern and AIVAS and all that: http://pernworld.wikidot.com/theme

              Knowing some basics is also helpful. Most the population lives in Holds (traditional agrarian, pretty feudal setup even with leaders that are called Lord Holders).
              2nd largest subset of society would be the Crafters, that have their main Hall where most are trained, although crafters can also be posted at Holds and Weyrs as well. The Weyrs would probably be the smallest population although that's where most the RP happens (it's Dragonriders of Pern so most people do end up playing as Dragonriders).
              Weyrs were structured with the support and care of dragons since they were the one thing saving the planet deadly space rain falling down on the planet for decades every 200 years or so. Thread's no longer a thing, so dragonriders have gotten resourceful in what they do to support themselves now, but they are also bounded to giant, intelligent, telepathic, teleporting dragons so there's a lot of possibilities in what they can do.

                @gremlinsarevil

                Thanks! I'll give it a look and peek my head in on the game as soon as I can. 🙂
