Marvel: 1963 (Lookin for a Coder)

@tangent Well, feel free to add me to the queue of people interested in helping out.
-
Glad it's not going to be FATE. There's no system I hate more and won't play on a game with it. Penn isn't horrible, it just takes some getting used to.
-
@fatefan Excellent! I'll send you the information once we get things going, probably tomorrow. What sort of stuff would you be interested in doing
-
@tangent Whatever you might need. That sort of CG setup should be pretty easy, but if there's anything else I can offer, I'm happy to.
-
Event and logging code (which could just be copied from the same ones all the games use)
What logging code that all the game use? I would like to see this.
-
I can describe it, but I don't know about how it's coded or anything like that.
It's an object, and you set it up as a logger. Then you drop it in the room, and turn it on. It logs all of the poses and prunes out the OOC stuff and any other garbage. At the end of the scene the command is like +log/off Tangent's Logger. Then you take it into your inventory and go +log/show Tangent's Logger and it replays the scene, making it easy to copy and paste.
I know Brave New World had a setup where logs were posted somehow directly to the wiki. I can't even begin to tell you how that works.
As far as CoMux's logger, that was picked up by Mateus somewhere. I can't remember where she got it from, only that she saw it somewhere and copied it.
-
I think Volund has logging code that posts to Mediawiki...here maybe https://github.com/volundmush/mushcode/tree/master/scenesys

@Thenomain said in Marvel: 1963 (Lookin for a Coder):

It's the logger code I wanted to use on Eldritch and sent you after I got it from Darkspires, the same that CoMux uses now (and got from Darkspires). The code would need to be adapted to Penn.
-
@TNP Will that code work with Pennmush and if so is there a way I can get a hold of it eventually? (Once I find someone who wants to code fulltime, I mean)
-
@tangent You can have a copy. I doubt it'll work as is on Penn since the code isn't the same as Tinymux but it shouldn't be too hard for a coder to adapt.
-
@TNP Sweet! Thanks
-
Alright, so the update is that we have it up and running and are beginning to figure things out. For anyone out there who is interested in being the day to day coder or the eventual wiki person, those are the two staff positions we'll need to fill. Other than that, looks like this is where the heavy lifting is gonna begin.
-
Also, special thanks to @faraday for all of the work they put in tonight. Uffda, they are amazing.
-
I can't code, but I'd be glad to play.
-
@Surasanji
We pretty much have Chargen up and the news files, so I'll send you the connection info. We're gonna be working on the grid next -
@tangent Why haven't you sent it to me yet? You hate me, don't you?
-
@TNP I was waiting for you to log on elsemu. Also, you're like one of the houseguests where someone frets about the mess and spends hours to get it just right. Pressure!
-
I'd be willing to help and play at some point. Right now I'm still not really paying, due to recent developments.
-
You and your family are in my thoughts, hun.
-
@Vorpal same here brother. We will all be thinking about you.
