I don't know how to even break this down but this is, uh, second scale of the texture, first step.

...partway through second step, which will take a while.

      Oh fucking well.

Though tearing out 8-10 hours of stitching sucked...... today I finally got past where I'd been and it looks so much better.
I think I'll be done with the fucking castle tomorrow and able to move on. Halle-fuckin-lujah.

Has anyone ever used embroidery software for a machine? I'd like to do my own designs buuuut everything is ridiculously expensive so I don't want to buy any of it without some good recommendations.

@Quinn Sadly, no. Embroidery machine is on the dream wish list, but way outside the budget.

Most of the bigger machine companies have something like this for their brand, I think. While that's definitely not going to be the budget choice, it's likely the best bet for compatibility being assured.

FWIW, that's the advice I got when I was initially pricing them while considering it about a year ago, from the folks who run the local shop (and have since before I was born; they know their stuff). They tend to not recommend the most expensive options, and always look for 'the least expensive way to accomplish the thing', even when/if they know there's a considerable budget available.

            Oh fucking well.

First section almost done, should be done by morning if I can get up the oomph to work on it more.

              Oh fucking well.

...I think the stitching is going on pause for a few days (hopefully I can finish that one up before mom's b-day next month, probably shouldn't be an issue). Having someone sew my gums together for a full 20 minutes kinda needs to purge from my brain first. 😐

                Oh fucking well.

My mom is sending me her standing frame.

She hasn't used it in at least a decade, so I'd asked her to price out sending it to me. I didn't have high hopes because that woman is a lost cause of getting shit done (not ADHD; she's just lazy and puts shit off endlessly). And I was figuring she'd expect me to send the money so I wanted to know and figured 'hey if my tax return is big enough maybe it can be a small nice thing for myself even tho I'm out of work' or a thing I did for myself when I had a job again.

But no, she's shipped it! I'll have it Friday!

I feel even better about having bought a pattern to stitch for her for mothers day. ❤ ❤ ❤

Stayed up late to finish it because I was so close and finally. The rest of the 'border' for the SAL should be easy now that the castle and train are done:

It's a needle minder. It's magnetic so it holds my needle for me. I have a few but that one was a gift from a friend this past weekend and I love it.

Not sure if this would qualify as 'crafting', but once a month have to do 'shoe maintenance'. When you have a bunch of highly expensive shoes, you want to make sure they're maintained as much as possible to keep the appearance pristine, and take care of wear and tear as the materials that make shoes, while high durable and built to the wear and tear of the potential years of use, will not last forever unless you look after them.

Personally speaking, I have a fondness for Air Force 1s, Air Max 1s and Air Max 90s. When I got my first pair of AM 90s, the midsoles are notorious for wearing down and discoloring. This isn't a defect, it's a matter that the rubber that makes the midsole is a yellow color. We don't see this as generally the midsole is painted with a type of latex paint(or potential acrylic paint, I'm not quite sure). Anyways, as you get the shoes scuffed and marked, this paint will eventually wear off. Which just makes the shoes look like utter garbage....at least, for people that are deep into the hobby

I've been prepping these pair of shoes this evening. Usually requiring a lot of painter's tape. Believe it or not, the usual answer to repaint midsoles is some kind of leather or nylon paint designed for that material. What I've found that works the best when refurbishing sneakers is vehicle paint, specifically the spray paint made to paint car seats, consoles, and dashboards.

From this angle you can't really tell the damage done to the midsoles, the second picture with show what I mean.

@Testament You do this once a month?

Props, I probably couldn't be arsed to do this once a lifetime!

Well these are extreme measures to actually fix damage to a pair of shoes. Normally, it's a cycle of a wash with a specific cleaner designed for nylon and leather and then a couple applications of weatherproofing spray that makes them somewhat water and dirt resistant.

Repainting is only done when I start seeing wear and tear.

This is a work in progress dubstep song I started making to test my new PC's capabilities by doing some complex sound design. Wasn't gonna make any dubstep any time soon, but like, it's always a good test of a PC's resources in my opinion.
