In case you haven't seen it yet, Spider-man will be part of Marvel's cinematic universe from now on.

I really liked the banter between him and Logan in the comics so if someone like Whedon can tap into that, it'll be comedy gold. πŸ™‚

@Arkandel Except Whedon is very likely not going to be doing any Marvel movies past Avengers: Age of Ultron. So it'll have to be tapped into by someone else who can hopefully do it justice.

The obligatory reddit about Spidey in Marvel movies: http://www.reddit.com/r/movies/comments/2vdu98/spiderman_is_coming_to_the_marvel_cinematic/

Notice Sony still owns all rights to the character. They just wanted to ride the gravy train.

I'm iffy on my feelings over this. I prefer Spidey not overshadow everything that the MCU has been able to achieve with less popular characters. It's very likely they will try to push Spidey so hard that it'll end up being a detriment to everything else they've got.

@Coin I doubt they will. After all Spider-man isn't their property, they want to receive a boost from his inclusion in their movies but they have no incentive to make him overshadow their own properties.

@Arkandel, that's beside the point. If they can milk Spider-Man for all he's worth, they're going to. Especially if he proves to be particularly profitable and they decide to pony up and buy him back from Sony wholesale, since Sony has been unable to really wring him for all he's worth.

This thread should.be called the Marvel Cinematic Universe aka Earth-199999. It I mean, that said this is good news. Even if he does not remain a mainstay of the MCU, his presence makes it feel even larger.

I have serious spider-movie fatigue. But holy crow, I'd watch Andrew Garfield toss quips at Hugh Jackman and Jackman call him an asshole for like 92 hours.

We won't always have film stuff to bring up so I figured it could be about the MU in general. Dunno. If an admin prefers they can feel free to rename or reorganize it I certainly don't mind. πŸ™‚

I hope somewhere in the spaghetti vomit that are superhero continuities, someone has made a joke that all Earths consider themselves to be 'Earth-1'.

The mainstream DC continuity is actually Earth-0.

For those of you excited for Spider-Man/Wolverine action - tough titties, Fox is holding onto X-Men with a death grip (and Fantastic Four with a hand cramp).

Also, Andrew Garfield done got fired.

I can honestly say I don't give a shit about Marvel right now.

Mostly because I just found out that Joseph Gordon-Levitt and David S. Goyer are team-producing The Sandman movie, slated for 2016, with Jack Thorne, who was a writer for the UK series Skins.

And Sam Raimi is producing an adaptation of The Last of Us, whose script is being overseen by Neil Druckmann.

I mean, I can't wait to see Avengers: The Age of Ultron, but I get the sense that the creative direction is heading towards pewpewpew and away from that which made Iron Man, Captain America: The First Avenger, and The Dark Knight so interesting.

@Ganymede, is Goyer getting a writing credit or is he just producing? Because I'm honestly getting a little burnt out on him, too, haha. He's given us some gems but also some absolute shit. hrrrrrrHACKmanofsteelhrrrrfff
