Hobby-related Resolutions/Goals for the coming year... ?

I resolve to learn f'ing Python and/or Ruby and start a project in Evennia and/or Ares, even knowing that nobody will ever see and/or care. It will only broaden my horizons, and I don't need 24/7 validation.
Project list possibilities:
- FATE Core
- Theno's Evennia Muxification. (Yes I know others have done it, but I over-do things.)
- Maybe some variation on an existing RPG that would be more fitting for Mu*s, but not being a game designer I don't have any design goals for that.
Will take other recommendations.

It's going to be a while still because it's just me doing all of the work myself. I technically have a friend helping out but so far he hasn't done much of anything but idle and chat >.< Space is functional but still basic. Chargen (I'm using D20 Future, which will hopefully be compatible with the official Expanse RPG that Green Ronin will be releasing later this year) is coming along. Boards and Mail are in. Not much else is, though.

Green Ronin is very anti-piracy, I know that; there was a very long time where they refused to sell anything as a PDF. How do they feel about Mu*s?

Oh man, I want to do this one of these days. Maybe in 2019, when the disposable income is higher. Roasting my own coffee is part of The Dream.

Green Ronin only has permissions to make the game itself. And they would be OK so long as it didn't violate Green Ronin 'property,' but it's an ask that we get permission from the owner of the IP to run the game.
...so it's basically in that same gray area as every other game ever.

Since some people mentioned learning / getting better with Python, Humble Bundle has a Python Bundle.
Not a coder so no idea how good a deal it is for 24 ebooks and a 3 month licence for something for $15 what with the holidays just over and wallets hurting, but there you go!

Yeah, based on their clock, the deal would expire about 2-3 hours before the window my paycheck usually hits my bank account.

Those are not "Python for beginners" books. I'd give it a hard pass if your goal is to learn Python for Evennia or the like.
Codeschool has a level 1 course for free, and you can probably get through the other levels in one month ($30). I've done a number of their courses and they're awesome. They also have Ruby for folks wanting to learn that for Ares.
There's also the free official tutorial. No bells and whistles but it'll get you what you need.
CodeAcademy is also free. Haven't used it.
Udemy is having a crazy New Year's sale ($10 for 100 lectures and lots of video) but I can't vouch for the quality.
I'm sure there are others.
