Echoes in the Mists - Discussion

Are Hunters allowed? I have a Cheiron concept that's been looking for a home for a few years now and I can bring a bunch of people.
-
@Kay Hunters got swept away into the Mists. So sorry!
-
@goldfish Haha, fair enough! Back she goes into the Rubbermaid.
-
@goldfish Might I suggest including the wiki link in your initial post?
-
@skew As far as I'm aware, the wiki is still under construction so there's nothing to link yet.
-
First, I want to applaud you for severely limiting spheres. It's not a popular move, but I think it's a good one.
Now, I took a stab at Reno several times in the past. It was always a particularly inactive game with most characters idling in rooms and little RP to be found easily on grid. What are you guys doing different this time to encourage a different game atmosphere?
-
@Lisse24 I can only speak of my own hopes and wishes, because things are always changing in this hobby. RL can hit the metaplot staffer and poof! So, this is just opinion.
I feel like we have built our theme and setting from the ground up, as opposed to carrying on someone else's original vision. That freshness, I've found, can make people more excited and productive.
Also, personally, I'm hoping to get more involved in the creative side of things. I dream of this active and happy M/M+ sphere with mystery cults and NPCs and a steady flow of things(Both major and minor) to RP about and I have a handful of ideas to help that along. I want the sphere to live and breathe. Which is a lot more than I can say for any time I have staffed. I usually just crank out jobs and data entry. This is my first attempt at this kind of activity so I'm learning, but I am eager.
And I think the whole staff is eager to see their work come to life and efforts enjoyed.
EDIT: I wanted to add a confirmation that the wiki is still under construction. We're making +finger hip again.

Not trying to be mean here... but wikis are an integral part of the MU, especially a MU using the soft code base that you're using. Why open up the game itself when there's no means to access the information necessary to, say, make a character and play the game?
-
@skew the info is in the game via help/news files. Ya we're pretty accustomed to reading wikis for info.
To the staffers any possibility of a web log in into the game?
-
@skew - This is a Soft Open. It was stated clearly that some systems, including the wiki, were still under construction. People were interested in getting into the game, familiarizing themselves with the grid, starting to RP. Thus far, from what I've seen, the lack of a finished wiki has not impeded anyone in doing this.
-
@goldfish said in Echoes in the Mists - CoD 2e MU:
During Soft RP, approved PCs will be receiving their automatic 1xp per week. No other XP will be awarded in this phase.
XP spending is disabled for now.Depending on how long you're in soft open, this could put people waiting for a more complete game at a disadvantage. Will this disparity be addressed, or are you considering this initial injection of XP to be a reward for joining early?
-
I think it's unfair to call out a game which isn't open yet for missing features which, if they already had, they would be open.
-
I won't speak for the staff in charge of the choice to Soft Open. I can speak for the mild clamoring we were all hearing quietly from folks who wanted to play. So, we were mostly ready, so why not open the playground? So it doesn't have all the toys yet but it is very, very clearly a soft open/beta phase.
I do not believe web login is in the cards for us. No one has mentioned it, at least.

Given how the advertisement above makes it clear that players can request changes to their PCs, I don't see how the availability of a wiki disadvantages anyone. As long as you have the books, this shouldn't be a difficult thing to figure out.
Also, given that this is the only multi-sphere CoD game out there, I can understand the interest.

As far as I was aware, it was the only CoD game out there right now, multisphere or not. Are there others?

Good! Really wasn't trying to be a jerk, just felt like a very strange choice. I think Thenomain's helping you all, but if you need any code help, please feel free to let me know! I'm very happy to see another CofD game!

Thenomain is there for the setup and tweaking for opening. I don't know who their coder is for long-term support, but don't let my presence stop you from coding!

I have been working long hours, so I am willing to acknowledge that my CoD MUSH Lore may have dropped below 2.
-
Put Mage in there, and I might be interested.
-
@zaroot No horse in the race, but as much as I like Mage the moment you put it in the mix, the mix becomes 80% about Mage.
