      Hey,

      Are you sick of Roll20?

Do you want to have cool maps with people online?

      http://foundryvtt.com/

It's a non-game specific virtual tabletop with a dnd 5e module during development. I've been using it for my 5e dnd games the last month and the quality of life improvement is pretty big.

Also if you have roll20 or foundry and use dndbeyond check out Beyond20 which lets you roll to both directly from your sheet so you don't need to split your investments. If anyone is interested in experiencing foundry or 5e for the first time, I plan on running some one-shots in August so leave a message here or in PMs!

TaleSpire is a nice one. My D&D group all chipped in to back this one.

@Seamus 3D rendering for maps is pretty slick. Gives a better playmat with friends at home feel to it. Whoever is doing their textures has a good sense of tongue-in-cheek and realism too.

Well, it's not just rendering the maps. It's actually allowing you to run the entire campaign from within the map with rules and effects. We can't wait to play with it.

                @Auspice

My schedule is basically completely shot the last 2 months with work but I've been able to maintain friday Storm King's Thunder (as a player) and then Saturday Tomb of Annihilation along with a Sunday Ghost of Saltmarsh as a DM. All 5e, though I am hoping 2077 sourcebook is good because I'd like to do a cyberpunk when that comes out next year.

EDIT - If you are looking for a game, I can help you find one! I know people, people addicted to DMing worse than me.

I've been playing in a campaign using this for a month or two, and it's real sleek.

There's a few systems I desperately wanna play.

2077 is one. The new Aliens is another. And I'd give my left pinky toe to play Deadlands again.

I know some WH40K Dark Heresy 2.0 groups, I know one person who wants to run deadlands (but no voice), I know no WoD people. I know someone who wants to do a Witcher RPG tabletop.

EDIT - Unless you mean will there be other ruleset modules at which point yes there will be. In the Discord there are other games being discussed. It's just that the main dev team is supporting 5e as their beta test module but the core design is still game agnostic.

                        EDIT 2 -

[2:27 PM] Atropos: I think I'm forgetting something, but someone is working on a sort of sci-fi system

I would love to play on a game like this. I'm going to have to check this place out. It's hard to get a good TT game going in my area.

I miss having a tabletop game in which I'm a player, sometimes, as opposed to the GM.

But on that note, as a GM: what does Foundry do differently than Roll20 that makes it more slick? Can I define sheets and dice mechanics like I can in Roll20, in case the game isn't already supported?

a.k.a. Packetdancer (or "Pax" for short)

                              1. Foundry is hosted via a server or computer. Players connect to it via a simple ip/30000 port link.
                              2. Full script and module support allowing customization
                              3. Refactored code supporting complex layered maps, lighting, and other 'premium' R20 features without the crippling lag associated with them or the price tag.
                              4. You own it outright, 1 time fee 50 or less when it finally releases. Right now it's 5 dollars a month to be a patreon to get access. You can just pay 1 month and get access to whatever version is available and use that forever. Once you have the software you have it there is no version control or being held hostage to a developer. Only 1 user is required to own the software and likewise during beta only 1 user needs to have access to the beta to run games.
                              5. The community mod support is pretty strong. As of right now there are player designed plugins, scripts, and modules to do things like import content from R20 campaigns to ease the transition. Improved NPC/PC sheets compared to the base module support. Improved chat macros and dice mechanics. So on so forth.

In my opinion based on my experience with R20, Maptools, theater of the mind, and a few others I straight up cannot remember the name of... Foundry has been the highest amount of support with the least amount of headaches for VTT platforms. The best part of course being all the current functionality is just 0.3.3 version so it's not full release and more features along with ease of use is planned.

EDIT - http://foundryvtt.com/pages/api.html Might also answer a lot of your GM customization questions.

@Auspice Nobody's tried dragging me to Dragon's Lair yet. I've gone to Wonko's every once in a while, but that's board games, not D&D. My roommate wants to GM D&D though.

I couldn't get the demo to do much, but as I do a weekly VTT this is interesting. We've been using maptools for years (never liked roll20, the way it handles npcs clashes with my GMing a bit), but while it is very function-rich it's not very user friendly and can be hard to set up for new players (haha java). So very curious to see where this one goes.
