RL Information

In all parts of the forum, we have one rule: do not post any personal information regarding a person's real identity ("PI").
This includes, but is not limited to: (1) real first names; (2) real last names; (3) mailing addresses; (4) pictures showing the person; (5) phone numbers; (6) social security numbers; or (7) any other information which could be used to easily locate a particular person in real life. The reasons for this are myriad, and should not have to be explained.
Repercussions will depend entirely on the circumstances. Even a single offense may result in permanent banning from here. Please do not break this rule.
In addition to the above, please pay attention to the following policies and act in accordance with the same:
-
If you believe someone has released yours or another's PI, please notify an admin immediately. You are not required to request that a poster remove your PI or their PI from their posts.
-
If you accidentally or inadvertently release your PI, please edit your post to remove the PI immediately or delete the post in its entirety. If you cannot or are unable to do so for any reason, please notify an admin immediately. If you are linking to an Etsy page or another site which may have your PI, that's fine; however, be advised that this may make it easier for bad people to find you.
Us Admins will do our best to respond as quickly as possible to remove PI from the forum. This may result in the deletion of posts and loss of information; however, be advised that we believe that the privacy of posters here outweighs any interest we may have in retaining the text of a particular post.
If you have any questions about this policy, please contact the admins for clarification. This policy may be altered as required in the future to address situations as they arise.

This post relates to accidental or inadvertent posting of others' PI.
We moderators are cognizant that accidents occur, we are also of the opinion that many accidents are preventable. That said, users are responsible for what they post. If you cut-and-paste a post from elsewhere that contains PI, you are responsible for the contents of that post. And that means that if it contains PI, you will be removed for having violated this rule unless you take steps immediately to address the issue.
More or less, if any of the moderators have to step in to remove PI from the board before a user modifies a post to exclude it, a violation has occurred, regardless of knowledge.
Be careful what you post from elsewhere and be careful when using names. We look at these things on a case-by-case basis, along with what we surmise to be the intent of a post.
And, as always, violations of this rule force me to actually do work, and making me work makes me grumpy.
