Time for a New WoD Game?
-
Eldritch is gone, Reno and Fallcoast are on a downturn right now and City of Hope is... well. City of Hope.
In the interest of keeping the community together I'd be willing to work with the rest of you to get another place going. I realize there's some potential projects coming up but there really should always be at least one 'catch-all' World of Darkness game that is set in a large city and caters to the major spheres so we all have a fall-back place to RP.
As for what game system... a lot of people don't like 'Beats' and the weird hipster stuff going on with nWoD 2.0, while others don't like the standard nWoD model. I'd lean towards basic nWoD as we all (all as in players of WoD games) have a familiarity with it and could live with it.
If anyone's interested this sort of game wouldn't require too much brainstorming. There wouldn't be anything crazy or fancy theme-wise. It would just require hosting, a coder, and a handful of people to run it.

Not to discourage you at all (more games is good) but there are projects in development. @Sunny is working on Dust. People have Echoes in the pipe. I have a new project on the burner. And this is just what I am personally aware of.
-
Yeah, I'm sure there's stuff being worked on, but most games worked on never get released.
-
As far as I'm aware, @Sunny's Dust is a catch-all, though it is Chronicles, not the old tired crap that is nWoD.

Going nWoD 1e and being a catch all would already be covered by Fallcoast wouldn't it?

While you are also under no obligation to make a game to my expectations, but I know I wouldn't ever go back to WoD or Chronicles 1.0
-
Well if boring hipster-beat is what folks want I guess there's no point.
-
I want Sin-Eaters

Man, you gave up on that in record time, dude. Heh.
-
An update on the forthcoming games would be nice.
-
Oh I didn't give up. I was stating that there's no point in boring games with 'beats' and 'hugs' and whatever it is kids these days are after.
I'm still very interested in making a game.

Man, we need a Dominion game... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dominion_(TV_series)

Yeah I am as anti-NWoD 2.0 as anyone. But mechanically it is superior to the previous editions.
I don't like the added fiddly bits for online play, and pretty much hate everything storywise about it to the point I would never play it, but it is mechanically superior and beat is just the term they use for xp. It is not like other games have not changes that term around to something that fit the vibe they were aiming for better better.
Edit to add: Before you claim calling xp something different is a new thing the TSR Marvel Superheroes game called it Karma and the Mayfair Games DC Heroes game called it Hero points both of which were created in the mid 80s. -

I am having doubts that you are interested in discussing game design.
So nobody triggers your Crusty Old Man Syndrome again, can you explain what kind of game, and what systems, you are thinking about?
-
I'm still working on TheatreMUSH, the OWoD Vampire Cam/Anarch only game I've crowed about. I have no opening timetable immediately, because it's just me and this season has been extremely busy (my best friend's wedding was yesterday and I was best man, so prep for that was epic, and holidays are always busy).
I had seen a wiki going up for a Vampire-only (but containing Sabbat as a playable sphere) game converting Masquerade to CofD2.0 mechanics called Final Nights (no idea whose this is, or if it's anyone's here).
-
I guess nWoD 2.0 would be palatable if I didn't have to call it 'beats' and 'experiences'. Just changing the name it's called would probably calm my old-man style fist shaking a little bit. Or even using the changed powers with the old XP cost-gain system. I'll be the first to admit that Vampires and Werewolves got a much needed boost.
But then we go down the path of houserules and complications and that makes it hard to get people excited.
Also the storyline of 2.0 has to go. It's awful, just awful.

I'm on fallcoast regularly and the wolves are really active. For social rp, there' a lot of mortal activity as well.
I'll agree there's a lot in the works right now. Due to this, I'm trying to branch out from my White wolf/paradox world of darkness games and get into other IP's. Star wars so far.
