    • RE: Antagonistic PCs - how to handle them

@horrorhound said in Antagonistic PCs - how to handle them:

      @Juniper

I, personally, loathe the Super Friend routine and often distance myself from it when I see it as I recognize my first instinct is to piss all over it and then set it on fire. Hooooweverrrr, using that example and your own, you inevitably come back to Staff being the arbiters between players and at each crossroads because, you know, drama.

Swinging back around this game a couple of years later, the main form of plot development seems to be constant charity drives and I just want to burn the whole thing to the ground.

I really don't think that eavesdropping is a problematic feature at all. Looking forwards to future developments!

    • RE: Paying for a MU*?

@il-volpe said in Paying for a MU*?:

I was once invited/hired to TS people on a game where you paid like $5 to join and then could hire certain characters to TS and pay them for the session, and the game owners took a percentage. This seemed feasible but I don't think it lasted long.

What an entrepreneur, LOL. Monetizing TS takes some balls.

    • RE: The Desired Experience

That would be true if Derp was personally the only RPer available to interact with hypothetical ungrouped characters, and we know that isn't true. If I had 2-4 hours a week available for RP I couldn't imagine spending that time ignoring my friends so I can go hound noobs who may or may not be bearable RP partners. This is a hobby, not charity.

In reality we see most people in the game forming their own pods, or McLonely gets scooped up by that one chick who does live in the game 24/7.

@kestrel Same. I am a terrible, awful person, and need the latest drama scoop.

Huh. I don't discount your experiences, but I can't help but wonder if they're emblematic of a particular type of game or set of games rather than MUSHing as a whole.

I hear a lot that the more simulationist type MU*s are filled with unpleasant people, which is unfortunate, because it's the kind of MU* that I enjoy the most.

    • RE: Decriminalise Pretty

@greenflashlight I've never designed a pretty character with a specific audience in mind (other than myself) and I've never been able to pick this out in anyone else's characters just by appearance so I'm not sure how to answer this question.

    • RE: The Case Against Real PBs

Admitting I didn't read most of the discussion between here and the initial post.

PBs of real people's faces has always come off as a little strange to me and I have always preferred digital art because it doesn't feel like I'm using someone's likeness without consent. AI image generation has been a huge benefit although it still has a lot of kinks to iron out regarding ignoring instructions in favour of stereotypes. And there's ethical considerations with generative content, although it's not like I was ever paying digital artists for their work or making money off RPing so I don't think it matters much.
