    • RE: PRP or SRP

Both, but I find many games becoming lazy and simply going the PrP only route. Shadowrun Denver has gone this route in all but name now, and it is incredibly boring. Why players are even tasked with creating goals/issues in their background make no sense whatsoever as none of it is used, the grid is simply for bar RP at this point. Staff is concerned, overly concerned, with handling gear requests for PrPs and there is no meta or plot arc. Any staff that could run a story have no incentive, and maintain several alts.

People run PrPs like it's crack in the 80's, little groups huddled in plot rooms passing the pipe around. No impact on anything, it's incredibly unbalanced and sad as the sole representative of the product.

    • Shadowrun Denver Plot(s)

      Posting for a friend.

      Host: aelfhame.net Port:1999
Shadowrun Denver is a 3rd Edition MUSH set in Denver and the surrounding city (with smaller maps for CAL-FREE and New Orleans).
      http://denver.wikidot.com

A VITAS 7.0 Outbreak has crippled areas of the CAS as the local sector decides on a laissez-faire attitude. No one knows who's sick and who's not, but there's a scramble on Doc Wagon contracts and Cross Applied Tech-made anti-virals. Corporate housing is being shut down block by block for clearance. The rumor mill says there's been an uptick in Ghoul sightings and attacks in broad daylight. Shared borders are on increased inspection, primarily technological and magical based surveillance to avoid contamination.

Meanwhile, PoliClub espionage between the port of New Orleans and The Caribbean League has impacted major deliveries of anti-virals intended for Denver - those daring enough for a cross-country (or sea) smuggle run have money to be made and the Orgs are providing what the market cannot bear as other Denver sectors make a run on PPE, meds, and snake-oil treatments.

      Positive
High Rumor is the Yakuza, or J's claiming to rep the Yakuza, are going after Innocenti smuggling shipments, taking full advantage of this outbreak to really destroy Mob targets in the CAS and pinch medical goods. +2 extra Karma to these plots. For player GM/s one favor towards a Mr./Ms. Johnson Contact for player GM's.
Medium The new New Orleans area is suddenly ripe for a smuggling port. An additional 10K payout to plots that operate in this area helps get goods to Denver.
Low Ghoul Busters! They're creatures just like us! But local go-gangs are paying for Ghoul Ear necklaces. For each plot, an additional +500 =Y= bounty per Ghoul killed, up to a 3500 Nuyen individual bonus total. Runners must cut off Ghoul's ears for proof.

      Negative
High Hitting Mafia targets ICA=ICC. Expect the Mafia to look into it, you've been warned.
Medium The Gulf Coast People's Movement is a rising pro-Carrib League policlub active in New Orleans, purportedly run by a Haitian Ork Vodoun. Operating in NOLA could get on their radar.
Low Ghouls are stronger, faster, and worst of all smellier of late.

In the past I would also try to reinforce that ST don't have to be "dangerous" simply by showing up.

As a ST on Shadowrun: Seattle, I would pop by as various contacts, even family, of a player just to RP with. For instance, one player had in their sheet they had a family member deeply in debt, I'd call once in a while and RP as that family member asking to borrow some money. Or, simply describe additional mundane things going on, or show people discussing fallout from another player's story.
Trying to keep things organic. But this is beside the point of plot and player plots, ultimately, I just see more Player Plots than Plots because I find ST's increasingly worried about ticking off people, or again, Staff not even interested in hiring ST's.

    • Decker needed for Shadowrun Group on Denver

Heya - I play a fixer on the old 3rd Edition version of Shadowrun: Denver (aelfhame.net port 1999). There are a few staff plots going on, and perhaps due to the present lockdown a larger than normal player base. Most of the PC's are magic, but I'm looking for a classic decker type to RP with who's interested in some sessions and also on-going retainer for a small-time fixer/circles of criminals.

      Thanks.
