Baumgartner Restoration - Guy restores and conserves paintings for a living. Besides being so satisfying, I've learned so much about how paintings are constructed in general as an artist. I will never use staples instead of tacks on a canvas ever again.
English Heritage - The Youtube channel of the foundation which works to preserve historical sites in the UK. Their 'Victorian Way' cooking series is THE BEST.
The British Museum - An excellent channel. Naturally, their topics can be a bit all over the place, but they are always really well done. I particularly enjoy the conversation videos because it's not taught in my ancient history studies. P.S. The videos with Assyriologist Irving Finkel are just the most exciting and hilarious videos ever. I wish he were my professor.
我们的小喜 XiaoXi's Culinary Idyll - Don't let the name fool you. While he started with cooking videos, Xiao Xi is a craftsman who does some delightful work ranging from woven baskets to hammered copper teapots.
Shi Heng Yi Online - I did gong fu and qi gong for many years before I moved, and while my lineage was not Shaolin-based, I find these FREE videos inspiring. There can be so much woo surrounding martial arts and energy work in general, and it's very rare to find someone who can speak about the theory and techniques in such a beautiful, succinct and calming way.

@ominous OMG this guy is fecking adorable! I loved the mother's day episode about whether children make the best pets. Thanks for sharing his channel, I'm definitely hooked. My youngest started out just looking over my shoulder but he is so engaging that he watched several videos with me, and they're not short!

Xiran Jay Zhao is new and doesn't seem to be terribly prolific, but I can't tell you how educating I've found their videos in which they dissect American cartoons for Asian representation... or misrepresentation, as the case may be.
-
Out of curiosity, which video did you start with?
-
@ominous the anaconda. They are so magnificent and I love snakes. Followed up by the king cobra. I really enjoy reptiles but do not want the responsibility of their care at this point in my life so it's always fun to find folks on YouTube that are engaging and not ducks.
I'm in a similar state with birds (love em but im it would be irresponsible for me to have one, I thought about getting chickens but we have so many predators on our property like owls, weasels, bears, coyotes, bobcats, dogs and cats that neighbors let run free on a rotating basis as they get eaten by aforementioned wild predators that i don't have the time or extra funds to put in predator mitigation stuff) so I enjoy getting my parrot fix with BirdTricks.

These days I mainly go to Youtube to watch stuff that makes me feel relaxed, especially ones where there's interesting stuff going on in the screen but with no narration, only relaxing music and/or the sounds of what's being made.
That said, number one of my list might very well be a serial killer. With a few million subscribers you may have already heard of Mr. "Sharpest Knife", but just in case, please check out his stuff. He has an amazing sense of humor. How about a cardboard knife? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jvo86AHovFc
The second one is a Hong Kong Youtuber named Mr. Zhou, who does woodcrafting. His background music is soothing, and unlike many other craftsmen on Youtube he intentionally leaves in any mistakes he makes, no matter how dire, so the viewer can follow along as he learns. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q1CmQQTho9Y
Another one I like is called J. Dessert, it's a Korean dessert cafe that publishes really soothing recipe videos online, just cute music and the snap and pop of food being made. https://youtu.be/-PGiAicJEe0
Finally, when I want to watch some Lets Plays I go with Kikoskia, a British Youtuber who specializes in older or more obscure games. Here's a link to his current play through of Baldur's Gate 2: https://youtu.be/3Oux8eTaErk

Frog Leap Studios - I love me some metal covers and this guy is just amazing.
Seconded... His cover of Sultans of Swing drew me in, and I was hooked.
-
Nothing new to add to the list, but I'm at once surprised and pleased to notice how many of the Youtubers I follow are coming out as gay, enby, and/or trans.

BillyBinges is my new favorite for reaction videos. He is deeply uncomfortable whenever people kiss on screen and every time it happens, he remarks "They kiss like two -nouns- -verbing-". He also really enjoys providing prompts to his viewers.
-
Juuuust gonna insert my channel in here, since we're about to get back to full-time filming/posting in the next week. Check out the reaction channel 'Geek House'. :3

Saint Andrewism is a Trinidadian artist & anarchist who makes video essays about aesthetics, politics and idealism.
Pros:
- Calm, soothing voice which is pleasant to listen to
- Videos are peppered with bits of dry, biting sass which will make you smirk
- Informative, educational and original thinker
- Some essays are long (my favourite of his is 50 minutes) but some are short (10 minutes or less) so when time is a factor there's still plenty to choose from.
- They aren't overly visual so you don't actually have to pay full attention to the screen and can just play his videos in the background while taking care of chores or whatever.
Cons:
- He's not very apologetic about his views so it may not be suitable for people who sit comfortably either on the fence or on the other side of it.
Linking his popular uploads playlist, the first of which is just 8 minutes: What is Solarpunk?

In Ohio, you may resist an unlawful arrest and cannot be found guilty for obstructing an officer in pursuit of an unlawful arrest.
I knkw what you're saying but I assure you that you absolutely can and likely will be found guilty for doing exactly that.
Like yeah I get it the law says things but y'all cops have guns and a godlike status among half of the public. Your safest (physically and legally) bet is to record as much of the interaction as possible via a service that uploads the video as it occurs.

I just realized that post is over a year old but whatever
Still valid
Don't talk to cops
Don't trust cops
If you're getting arrested don't physically resist
Try and get recordings of everything
Don't talk to cops -
As a former cop, I concur. There were many times I thought, "Just shut the fuck up and let me do my job."

These days my youtube is mostly sciencetuber content.
Stand-up Maths is great at making weird mathematics interesting.
Veritasium is great at investigating all sorts of concepts.
Corridor Crew analyze and sometimes reproduce CGI and stunts in movies, often with special guests.
Viva La Dirt League just really great gaming themed comedy skits
SmarterEveryDay lots of good educational videos
Stuff Made Here what happens if you leave an engineer alone with an entire workshop
Technology Connections learn more about technology in your house you never thought about
ElectroBoom Everything you shouldn't do with electronics
