@rdc Anything to help a black cat.
-
@wretched
Black cats best cats.I mean, all cats are best cats, but I have a black cat, so I'm partial.
-
@PuppyBreath and I have talked about our kitties some (we both have black kitties). I'll donate once I get paid and have some spare bucks.
-
Donated. Hope your kitty gets the treatment he needs.
-
Donated some too. Love cats (got three myself) and I am particularly fond of black cats of which I got one myself.

My memory is p terrible rn, but if someone wants to remind me I’ll donate at least half of my tips from tonight’s shift when I get off work tonight.

Thank you so much everyone who's chipped in! I've been so stressed out about all of this lately and now I keep getting all emotional that I can actually get him help.
I'll keep everyone updated on how Tem is doing! I syringe fed him some watered down canned food last night and he finally drank some on his own, but isn't wanting to eat at all. Not even the smelly treats that he usually goes crazy over.
-
@puppybreath I hope he's okay! Give him all the love. Lily sends hers too.
-
@wretched So pretty! Black kitties are the best!
I'm all set up to drop Tem off at the vet first thing in the morning!
-
I dropped Tem off this morning. All I know so far is that, as I feared, he's in hepatic lipidosis from not eating. He's on fluid treatment and will be force fed to reverse the starvation causing the HL.
Cats not eating is super serious. If your cat ever stops eating, go to the vet as soon as you can. It can be even more time sensitive in obese cats. Hepatic lipidosis is often fatal if left untreated.
-
Keeping Tem in my thoughts, and hoping for a great outcome for you. Recently lost one of mine myself, so know how you're feeling. At least he's getting the care he needs now.
-
@puppybreath Oh no. I hope kitty gets better soon.
-
I am sending all the good vibes I can. My three kitties are my world, so I totally get it. Fingers crossed for you.
-
@puppybreath We lost a cat to this once, the cat just stopped eating, nothing we could do, turns out if they get any kind of mouth or tooth problem they will stop eating and starve themselves to death if you don't get it treated. We ended up having to put ours down so it didn't suffer. Was very hard.
-
It's nice to know that, around here, we can all agree that unnecessary kitty suffering is a cause we can all get behind.
-
@lithium I'm so sorry! It's been a thought in the back of my head a lot lately.
I visited Tem at the vet today and he was feeling well enough to want some attention. But he'd barely touched the big bowl of canned food he had. He has eaten some, they told me, but he can't come home until he's eating at a calorie surplus. His skin was also yellow-y in a way I hadn't even noticed at home.
The red and white thing is vet wrap holding his IV in place. Apparently he ripped it out last night.
