@Ganymede Yeah. I do it a lot too, and it’s a great tool in general. I just haven’t found it as effective in plot scenes. YMMV of course.

I actually see getting to go right after the GM as a bonus... because no one is going to suggest the very thing that you're typing up right now in their pose one ahead of you.

I agree with @Auspice however, that 3PR helps with that a lot -- because you aren't locked into any one spot, so no one's waiting on you if you're suddenly stuck for what you want to write, or you can let other people creep ahead of you if you want to slip out of the first pose position.

I do like that in FS3 combat, pose order really doesn't matter much, but I do also think that this discourages interaction between PCs during combat -- because everyone reads the combat results and starts typing, you have to be the type of player who pose-queues -- and then is willing to go back and edit the pose before you send it through.

I think that has more to do with the sheer SIZE of most automated combat scenes than the code. You see more interaction when the groups are smaller. With ten people’s poses and combat results to react to it can just be overwhelming sometimes.

@faraday Yeah, that may very well be the majority of the issue. I do know that I end up posing last a lot of FS3 combat rounds because I'm waiting for a response from another player that I addressed in my pose the round before, and then I have to tweak my pose for either their response or their lack of response.

I think the terms proactive and reactive apply in this case.

Some scenes and PrPs definitely have an idea in mind and some players have an idea as to what they wanna do in the scene, but in many cases a PrP can be kind of like entering someone's house for a first time: You don't know where the bathroom is, the kitchen is, which step on the staircase is loose...

So some players have the mindset of exploring where others want to be led.

This is all a feature for me, not a bug.

@Ganymede I agree that the lack of pose order in FS3 combat is definitely a feature. I think it's awesome. And while I wouldn't call it a bug, I do think that it's a contributing factor to lessened interaction in the midst of a combat scene -- even if I agree with Fara that the size of the scenes is probably the larger factor.
