ETA: I have no idea how to make the SPOILERS bit not look awful. HALP!
Sadly, I think that's a nodebb issue. And it's the only Spoiler plugin there is. I'm sorry!
-
@auspice Oh. I thought I was messing it up somehow. Carry on! Nothing to see here! Ahem.
-
Peaky Blinders.
The new season aired today, and I've only had the time to watch the first episode.....
BUT HOLY SHIT YOU GUYS. My jaw literally dropped in the last minute of the show.
-
I binged all of season one of The Good Place because of Netflix. I need more. Guess I better check if it is on demand or something.
Have I ever mentioned I am seriously bad at binge watching? I am, but I've been able to do so here lately. Binged all of Riverdale s1 (did not expect to love that show...) and now The Good Place. What kind of monster am I becoming?!
-
I recently came into watching Riverdale myself. Now I'm irritated that the first few eps of S2 aren't up On Demand atm.
-
@cupcake Yeah, I'm behind on s2 of Riverdale. Might just wait to binge it when it hits Netflix as that seems to be my thing these days.
-
I can uh... maybe... share how I watch things on a website the not totally legal way. >.>
It runs well! Just toss me a PM. Episodes for shows are usually up within a day or two.
(Since I only have Netflix and Prime, it's what I use for cable and Hulu stuff) -

Welcome to the 21st Century.
If you know someone with NBC on Cable, download the NBC app, use their login credentials, and binge episodes 1-8 of The Good Place season 2. Continues January 4th.
Just sayin'.

Just finished binge watching the FX series Feud, which is about the antagonistic relationship between Joan Crawford and Bette Davis. I cried no small amount during the final episode.
-
Finished the first season of The Man in the High Castle. It's been an interesting ride so far. Felt a bit slow a few times, but those last two episodes of the season had me rubbing my face and WTF'ing at the screen a few times.
I'm going to wrap up season two, then move on to The Americans.

I've made abortive attempts to try this show twice, and it appears that third time is the charm.
If you have an opportunity, take the time to check out Crazy Ex Girlfriend on Netflix and the CW. A dark musical comedy series about a woman who quits her fancy ass law firm job in NYC and moves to a dinky town in CA all because she bumped into her summer camp love and decided to follow him out there. And it just so happens that when occasion merits it, characters on the show burst into unexpectedly into song.
The show has one of the best portrayals of what it means to deal with mental health issues I've ever seen. It's worth investing in if you are someone who is. At one point in the latest season, Rebecca bursts into song over the prospect of having a diagnosis that explains why she is the way she is and I completely, absolutely understand that sudden joy and realization. Or when she's suffering from depression, has made terrible choices, and then sings a Whitney-esque ballad called "You Stupid Bitch" expressing all the thoughts and feelings that involve depression and self-loathing to a tee.
It's also a great show for those of us who might not have mental illness, but want to understand people that do, while still being funny and having catchy tunes. Also, Rebecca Bloom (who plays Rebecca Bunch) is a bit zaftig, she doesn't have the typical tv body, and doesn't try to hide it. You see her in various states of undress, and not just cinched into a body shaper, but at times openly with a bit of belly hanging out which is awesome, as are her absolutely amazing breasts. Seriously, the girl is stacked.
Anyway. Rebecca Bunch is my new spirit animal.

@cupcake I love Crazy Ex-Girlfriend with the fire of a THOUSAND SUNS. I honestly think it's one of the best shows on television right now. (And it regularly gets into most of the major outlet's "Best Of" lists, so I'm clearly not the only one.)
(Although just a correction, the actress/creator is Rachel Bloom, not Rebecca Bloom.)

Is anyone else watching Runaways on Hulu?
Is it weird that my favorite character so far might actually be Stacy Yorkes?
-
Haven't watched it yet. A friend is raving about it, and I like the Runaways comics.

You should. It's not the same as the comics and at first I was a bit antsy about that. But... I'm a lot more okay with it now (and the Stan Lee cameo made me giggle). Sit down and watch it. I like the comics, too.
I was a bit hesitant about Hulu getting a Marvel show (I mean, Netflix has been the hard hitter on Marvel stuff, y'know?), esp. my favorite Marvel imprint... But it's good, so far.

@Zobi The Good Place is on Hulu but they can only have five episodes on at a time due to streaming rights so you'd have to track down the first two episodes of season 2 somewhere else. But! If you can manage to do that, it's a good place to stay current. You know. Provided you have Hulu.
In other news..
I know I am really late to this party but OMG DID ANYONE ELSE WATCH THE LEFTOVERS?! I just slammed through all three seasons and Carrie Coon is amazing and I love her and she should be in everything. Like, she was great in the third season of Fargo (it's just a pity that the third season of Fargo simply wasn't as good as the first two -- not that that was on her) but she was transcendent as Nora Durst.
Like, seriously you guys.
-
@sockmonkey Thanks for the info! Now the holidays are over I can return to my new normal of binge watching.

I gave it a shout out when the last season was airing and got crickets, but you're right - SO GOOD! There are a couple of episodes that I count as one of the best things I've seen. Not one of the best things I've seen on TV, or on Film, but have ever seen.
-
@lisse24 I'm always late to the party. I probably missed you saying anything about it!! It's definitely one of my favorites right now.
-
@Lisse24 I'm going to toss this behind a spoiler for anyone who hasn't seen The Leftovers -- and I can't recommend this show enough, guys -- but:
