Greetings and Salutations

Hello! I'm EmmahSue, or ES, or Meadow, or Lemuria, or any number of a million PCs over the years.
Rome, Thenomain and I are your mods.
WORA's lost to us (if the database becomes available in the future, we'll take a look at whether it's possible or worth it to port topics over), so it's time for something New! (gasp!oooh!ahh!)
Please don't be a jerk with usernames. That is to say, don't name yourself Lemuria or ES and post as me, that's kinda jackassy. Jackass at each other as needed in posts, that's pretty standard, but deliberate ID-trickery because we're starting out fresh, that's not okay.

Is this actually run by Theno and what not?
Such bullshit though what happened- regardless of the circumstances... all that history, all that information, knowledge.. Gone.I've seen people write on the identity of fandoms and roleplaying- but they only seem to take A certain mud/mush as a source for understanding internet/mushing culture. Lamadiamoo Lomodiamoo? Those of you old enough to be around back than will know what I am referring to.
There was so much on WORA and SWOFA that I saw and was like- in between all the insanity and inane bullshit- was something magical going on... It tickled the historian in me to read every little thing and to figure out what was going on. I could of probably wrote a decent paper to get published in a journal or the like too..
and its all gone now.

Meh. I don't really care what was lost. I mostly hope Pev is okay.
-
I'm kinda sad its lost if only because there was a LOT of stuff in there which is genuine experiences that is all -- gone.
I don't care about the crazy rants and bitching back and forth, I almost never participated. But still, gone.
That said, what happened? I was on only not so long ago. Was it an event, some fight, some attack, some chaos? Or did it just crash and no one is around who has access or interest to fix it? Oooor something between?
-
Yeah. I am somewhat sad to see the code repository of free stuff going away. I, uh, may have lost the only non-living version of 'Cobalt's +Events Code' now. Which means I'll have to try and get it from TR, or see if the version on my current install of DW is up to date (which it may not be). My own fault for not keeping an update version of the code saved somewhere on my computer.
Insert whinging here about moving and changing computers and blah blah.
I also will miss some of the funnier threads-- the interesting links thread, and the video game discussions. And some of Brus' old posts were hilarious.
Still, I mostly hope Peverel is okay. Lolth too, though I think she's fine? Probably just drinking somewhere.

Because I love you (okay love is a strong word) and I search the interwebs for you. I present:

Your +events code - You're welcome.

(Because it has to be longer than eight characters to post.)

Hey there! Saw this on Facebook so came by. There's another WORA like site up, even using the name, but not backed by Theno. Nice to see you again, Lem.
-
Glad to see that there are at least versions with the same idea springing up. I enjoyed WORA for getting popcorn out and watching the rounds fire. And... I also enjoyed it as a good place to see what not to be done and get the feeling that there was a place where people could come and figure out good ways to run games.
That all being said... is there anyway this layout can get changed? My eyes are bleeding. :<
(Edited because I can't spell.)

Whats the link to this unofficial spawn?
I've yet to see the Theno/Pev seal of approval on this one either, so I am indeed very much curious
Also I echo the sentiments of Angie up there- holy shiat- this layout makes me want to tear my hair out in its general inefficient use of space and its use of color.

As has been mentioned, Pev's status is currently unknown but seemingly /not good/ right now. I'm sure when Theno gets time he might be able to answer some questions.

These forums' interface will take a while to get used to. But hey, whatever, if we get more or less the same crowd here it'll be a pit of discontent and drama in no time so all's good.
-
I don't find the layout too difficult. I would prefer the colors be swappable, but otherwise, whatever.
-
It was a little bit shocking at first, but I've gotten used to it myself. Kind of like some of the features.
-
All I care about WORA-wise is to have more or less the same crowd of regulars around in a somewhat uncensored environment. I.e. as long as posts are only moderated based on their forum and general set of rules rather than their content or who is getting flamed today.
As long as that exists... well, having the ability to go back and look at several years' worth of drama could be entertaining but personally I don't care too much about it.
If this place gets the gang back together, given the people in charge's track record, I'm sure it'll be good enough.
-
I just threw it up to have something. I totally miss being nosy about the drama but it was also my new places to play go to.
I'm not super connected with a lot of mushers rl so I'm not in the know about a ton of things. I need a repository of info.
That said, I only put it up as temporary measure. If someone had come to me and said something we could have worked together! I did it because it's easy and costs me nothing...I already rent a dedicated server. Basically, I didn't mean to be competition.
-
No competition, October. More the merrier, I'm not invested in this beyond Ark's comment: providing a space, mod enough to keep the categories tidy, and otherwise leaving the community alone to do its thing.
I don't know about changing colors/layouts/etc. That's for @Glitch to worry about -- he's the codeguy.

@Angie @Kireek The layout comes with the forum software and it's a bit sparse on themes. There should be a new version of the forum software coming out and with it a new layout we can test. If you're on the homepage, you can go to the bottom right corner of the page and you should see a double-sided arrow which will give you a more compact view that might be more to your liking. The abundant white space is simply due to us having only a handful of categories. We can try tweaking the look somewhat, but overall it isn't likely to change too drastically since I think the forum software itself is pretty snazzy.
-
Same old faces, same old discussions? Ah well, I missed it.
-
Thanks for putting this back up. I found I actually missed the constructive parts more than I thought I would.
