One Dollar Mystery Campaign and IC cultures

The One Dollar Mystery Campaign is as it says, a Kickstarter that for $1.00 gets you an undescribed at the start campaign setting.
The author is amusing to me. There are also some interesting ideas in the work so far, but the sample given today has a brief but interesting description of culture. Just thought I'd share.

Tolkien was working on something like this; he called it a mythopoeia - in basic terms, he created a world and an entire backstory, history, mythologies and legends which had nothing to do with the story he was trying to tell or characters he was focusing on; then he put the characters in that framework and had them react to the world he created as opposed to create it around them.

@killer-klown And that's why I love everything about that work. Also why those who don't are wrong and should be ashamed of themselves, and rethink their life choices.

I'm with you there. Context is important.

Tolkien taught me that I should put little people on my knee and sing to them regularly during long trips to keep their morale up.
Also that eagles only quasi-exist in the framework of reality.

@admiral And make sure they always have a ready supply of ... ahem ... pipeweed, to keep them mellow?

It worked on the wizard too.
