@zombiegenesis Pickup RP tends to be available much of the time. There are some folks around most times of the day, and willing to do stuff, even outside ST'd scenes. People are chill and willing to do things. It would be worth a shot? If things don't work out, you can always drop easily between stories and still have a story under your belt with stuff going on over that month or so to see if there are enough others in cooperative timezones to stick with it longer term. (Not gonna lie, that bit is handy!)

      Oh fucking well.

There are now EIGHT -- count 'em, 8! -- open Archetypes:

        http://horrormu.com/index.php/Archetypes

Last night we had the Weyland-Yutani scene which ended in a timestop (because the other groups get to have their scenes over the next few days) which will begin to lead into the HORROR. And the classic script has already begun.

Missed the scene? Wanna check it out?

        http://horrormu.com/index.php/Log:This_is_Life

(The fun of this game is even when you're IN THE SCENE, you almost wish you were on the Obs Deck so you can see what the commentary on the scene by the other players is. >.>)

@auspice Not gonna lie, popcorn time in the Observation Deck is joy.

I mean, who doesn't 'no, no, don't split the party!' or 'awwww, damn, they're gonna get it... ' at horror movies?

Cheering on fellow players going through the classic horror tropes is a lot of fun, it really is.

          Oh fucking well.

But when you're the one in the scene, it's like:

'Are they cheering me on?' 'Did I do something they groaned at?' 'Did I do something they LIKED?' 'AM I THE ONE BEING TOLD 'NO GURL DON'T DO IT!'???'

THESE ARE THINGS I NEED TO KNOW.

Or did I make y'all laugh at any point?! Really that's the vital query. 😄

@auspice Maybe we need an OD channel. That'd be lovely. 😄

I'm back with another 'DIVE IN THE DEEP END!' recruitment post!

                http://horrormu.com/index.php/Archetypes

There's an event scene tomorrow! 8pm EST / 5pm PST. For the Hephaestus (mining ship) and the dock workers in the refinery.

A few Archetypes that are open fall under that!

                http://horrormu.com/index.php/Explorer2/Chevalier - Heph XO
                http://horrormu.com/index.php/Rebel2/Winterbourne - Heph Science Officer

(There's a bunch of Noc roles open too and they've got something big happening, but I THINK their scene is happening later this week.) However, lemme just say...

                http://horrormu.com/index.php/Deviant1/Colby - Noc Fusion Tech
^ VERY IMPORTANT RIGHT NOW ^
                .... like vitally so ....

There was a lovely little ST pose in the Weyland-Yutani scene:
Klaxxons sound, red lights kick on. "Containment breach in Tenochtitlan fusion reactor," says the ship's AI. "Docking umbilca damaged. Ship losing pressure." When Thorne closes the door and Thorson triggers decontamination protocols, the room seals and further locks down, a new door opening that leads to the decontamination chamber. For the moment it's the only way any of them can go.

So if you wanna jump right in tomorrow for an ST'd event, check out the Explorer or Rebel. But if you wanna make an entire space station SUPER HAPPY, check out the Deviant. Cause that fusion tech is, y'know, super important y'all. 😄

To correct @Auspice, the event TONIGHT 8pm EST / 5pm PST is for The Noc.

I wanted to provide a little bit more feedback... mostly for anyone that's considering jumping in but not settled on it.

I do not play this game as much as others. I have Public chan off half the time. I do not go to the Observation Deck to watch other people's scenes. I even showed up late to the "big important scene". And through all that? I feel like I'm part of the story. People are more than happy to page you a synopsis and get you caught up. The Director is very easy to finding an explanation for why you missed something.

And maybe I'm misreading the situation and people are frustrated I'm not around more... but hey, I'm enjoying myself! So, thank you all! And don't let the pacing scare you!

@skew Yes. This. Hell, in the Observation Deck, I wandered off and missed half the scene. They gave me a recap.

It seems to be fostering a sense of community. If we aren't in the scene we are welcome to watch. Logs are available and there is an whole damn system to make them easier to post.

I suspect the transient nature of the characters themselves, with the underlying sense of permanence of the Archetypes themselves gives us less of a sense of competition with each other, so it feels more like an OTT game of Mafia or something.

IE: It's not a game where there are defined winners, but survivors, and it's definitely PvE with the expectation that you will most probably die, but at least those that survive you will probably have more interesting story because of it.

@deadculture Yeah this is largely why I enjoy it, and the buy in thing from that thread. There's no game outside the theme, and if you're not into the theme that much you can wait for the next one. You're not waiting on plot, because it's all plot. Etc.

Its funny, because it made the predictable behavior of the probable-Custodius that much more laughable. Who are you even min-maxing to beat with your ridiculous, paper-thin character, brah? What do you think you're gonna win?

We have some try-hards, sure, but if anything more people seem in it just to get a lulz-y death.

The original Rebel (Eugene). He wrote his sheet before he even had his role/background for the first story. And it was basically fully written for min-maxing/combat/etc. Few of us were fairly certain it was Custodius.

@goldfish Imagine a character with max strength, max dexterity, but no willpower. That was Eugene.

A scrawny kid at average height who looked like 40 year old Snape.

To me.. That just sounds like an average mu*er/gamer when stats are invoolved. It pretty clearly indicated his preferred type of play.

Quite honestly, I doubt he is the only one in the game with that sort of sheet. More often than not that sort of player is just the unpopular one that got outed.

@sunnyj It's less his sheet and more what he did and what character he was playing. He was playing an outcast goth 18 year old boy who tried to incite a riot while there was a threat of cannibals in a forest being half-suppressed and that action caused a Kill Scene.

I should note some of those 'followers' of his were also about ready to lynch somebody for telling them to fuck off.
