LF Vampire Requiem 2E Bloodline Suggestions...
-
Myself, my wife, and a few friends are working on a Vampire 2E game to mess around on and we're looking for suggestions for vampire bloodlines.
The game is set in Las Vegas and we're looking for bloodlines that fit the theme and feel of that city. I'd like 2-3 per clan for some variety.
We've already decided on Bruja for the Gangrel because I'm not that original and I love them. So we're thinking something like a gangster style bloodline, maybe 2 or even 3 that focus on entertainment(magic, singing, dancing, etc), prostitution(maybe a succubus style bloodline?), something that has to do with gambling maybe, or awareness/observation (like all the cameras in casinos and whatnot), uhm...just spitballing right now but any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. Boxing and MMA are staples of Vegas so maybe some sort of a gladiatorial bloodline?
Anyway, like I said, any suggestions or idea would be very welcome. Thanks.

I'm willing to help you work on some, and to give you what I've got.
What sort of lines were you looking for? What's the focus of the game, if any? What will the political situation be like? I find these to be very important when choosing and inventing bloodlines.

Right now it's shaping up to focus on Vampire and Werewolf because those are the lines that most interest those involved. Most of the focus will likely fall in the Vampire arena. We're looking to explore the whole "you're a monster" aspect of Vampire. The philosophy of the vampire who runs Vegas is that humans come here to explore their darker sides, why should vampires be any different?
Keeping in mind that A) we're a small gathering of people looking to have some fun and B) we're very early on in the design process but these are the guidelines we're looking at right now for how and what we want to RP.
1: We're monsters, we want to explore what that means.
2: Territory, we like the idea of Vegas being a kingdom that can be divided up amongst coteries, individuals, and/or packs. We'd like to explore that in a, and I kind of hate to say this, almost Game of Thrones like way.
3: Tieing into the above there's a Prince(NPC who is almost never seen) and then the city is ruled over by a Primogen(maybe NPCs, I dunno...we'll have to see), there's also the Elysium which we want to sort of go John Wick style with(a big ass hotel set as neutral ground), and then there are the Lords of territories which could be a small as a club or as large as a city block or whatever. That's what we're thinking anyway.
4: The city is dangerous! We're the monsters but there are even bigger horrors out there; the Strix. We may not use them exactly as they are in the books but we like the idea of them being a twisted mirror reflection of Vampires. Vamps hunt and play with humans and the Strix do the same with vamps.
5: Werewolves are kind of caught in the middle. They have an alliance with the vampires but that's mostly because they're outnumbered. It's an uneasy alliance but one that, for the time being, is mutually beneficial because of the Strix.
6: Vegas is sort of a metaphor for what it means to be a Vampire(or werewolf even). The glitz and glamor of the outside hides something rotten underneath.TL:DR version: we're looking for dark, dangerous RP where being a monster offers certain freedoms while, at the same time, brings with it unique dangers.
At least that's what we have so far. We were tempted to just do it on roll20 or something but some of the group are new to MUing and are getting addicted and thought it'd be cool to explore these themes on a game so...here we are.

Mm. Some of the Dark Ages vampire bloodlines I had been working on might fit in here, along with some that were used on The Descent and proposed for that LA Game that some other people were working on.
I'll look through my library and PM you with some suggestions.

Old School Giovanni style seems to check a lot of boxes there. People tell me the Sangiovanni were the nwod replacement, but it just seemed to lack some of the ... flavor, I suppose.
You know, the kind of flavor that came from having a ritual that involved beating someone to death with a human femur coated in lead and inscribed with arcane glyphs while reciting a droning Greek chant <directly from the book, that>. -
@Ganymede Thanks!
@Killer-Klown I won't lie, I'm a sucker for old school clans as bloodlines. Ravnos, Giovanni, etc.
-
How did you plan to handle vampire magic? I was devising a system more akin to OWoD paths.
-
Let's see.
So, let me suggest the following:
Daeva:
Gerasenes: Old bloodline who see the Beast within as a Demon. Their existence is heretical to the Sanctified, yet they hide among them as adherents to the Monachal Creed and other Hardliner traditions. Celerity, Majesty, Nightmare, Vigor. (Homebrew.)
Ombosines: Masters of emotional manipulation, the ever-subtle Ombosines practice a secret form of magic passed down through the millennia said to have been taught to them by the desert itself. Celerity, Majesty, Obfuscate, Vigor. (Inspired by the Setites; see Mekhet, p. 92; V:20, p. 52.)
Malintzin: Named after the mistress of Cortes, the Malintzin are preoccupied with artistic expression, licentiousness, and the proliferation and preservation of Ando-American cultures. Celerity, Dominate, Majesty, Vigor. (SoM, p. 101; VtR, p. 246.)
Gangrel:
Bohagande: Followers in the tradition of Coyote, the Bohagande manipulate the threads of fate for survival and personal profit. Animalism, Auspex, Protean, Resilience. (BL:Hidden, p. 38.)
Bruja: Seekers and keepers of freedom. Horrible things and monsters to the core, they are kind enough to apply the boot to demonstrate their superiority. Animalism, Protean, Resilience, Vigor.
Xiao Laohu: These Chinese Gangrel are noted for being able to blend into the cityscape like no other urban predator, but are also known for being a little lazy as a result of those abilities. Animalism, Obfuscate, Protean, Resilience. (Custom.)
Mekhet:
Iktomi: Minions of the Hopi Spider Grandmother, the Shadows that prowled California before its borders were drawn still watch over its people, aid those that deserve it and terrorizing the evil among them. Auspex, Celerity, Nightmare, Obfuscate. (Custom.)
Sangiovanni: More at home among the dead than the living, these Shadows have decided that humanity no longer deserves to exist. They spend their evenings communing with the dead, gaining power, and planning the Final Solution: the utter destruction of humanity. Auspex, Celerity, Dominate, Obfuscate. (As per the books, with some tweaks.)
Sta-Au: The Sta-Au lurked within the Land of Worms, where the restless dead lurked and could be hunted to bring them peace or dispatch them. The wastelands around Las Vegas were theirs, and the presence of humanity -- and others -- have disturbed their slumber. Now, they hunt again. Auspex, Celerity, Obfuscate, Protean. (Customized for The Descent.)
Nosferatu:
Azerkatil: Feared and despised by all Kindred, the Dragonslayers are murderers and hit-men for hire. Naturally, they have found a place in Las Vegas. I mean, c'mon. Seriously. Celerity, Nightmare, Obfuscate, Vigor. (Customized for The Descent.)
Stone-Clad: The quixotic Stone-Clads prefer the sanctity of the mountains and open spaces than the concrete of cities, but their patron demon of Zuni mythology has other ideas for the foreigners that have spoiled the land. Nightmare, Obfuscate, Resilience, Vigor. (Custom.)
Yagnatia: Haunts hailing from Novgorod and beyond, they seek vengeance against the Ventrue and their lines for a past slight. For them, the pursuit of power is the only virtuous goal of their condition. Dominate, Nightmare, Obfuscate, Vigor. (BL:Chosen, p. 105.)
Ventrue:
Dayyani: Whereas the Kerberoi claim that they were the first arbiters as to who should be embraced, the Dayyani claim that they were the first judges in the first cities of Mesopotamia. They believe their authority was usurped by the male priests of the Storm-God Marduk. Now, they seek a reversal of fortunes for patriarchal society. Animalism, Dominate, Nightmare, Resilience. (Custom.)
Icarians: Lords who believe they are destined to rule as a divine right, they are a powerful force to be reckoned with in the halls of the undead. Their ambitions are matched and repulsed by the Yagnatia, who see their own right to rule as a matter of personal honor. Animalism, Dominate, Majesty, Resilience. (Lancea, p. 167.)
Nahualli: A relatively-new bloodline, the Nahaulli derive their beliefs from Aztec philosophies, and more often than not give their sacrifices to the Aztec God of War. Animalism, Auspex, Dominate, Resilience. (BL:Hidden, p. 78.)
I've got write-ups for a few of these, and have a lot of research notes for the rest.

@Ganymede Wow! Thanks for the suggestions! I can't wait to read through them. As for magic, I had not thought about it to be honest...
-
There are some bloodlines OP has put out there. Khaibit for Mekhet is really really well done.
-
@tragedyjones would like this post.
-
I know this is unrelated to the question you asked, but can I ask how sold you are on including werewolf?
When you run down your ideas for the game, you seem to have a lot for vampire and just throw in ww. I know it's a sphere that people like, but this might be a case where the game benefits from narrowing its focus.
-
@Lisse24 If we go public it is certainly possible we tighten up what is allowed to mortal and vamp-centric characters. The ideas we have definitely center around those lines.
-
@zombiegenesis Why the emphasis on Bloodlines?
I mean, is that your one pending item, does it just happen to be the one you are currently considering, or does the game thematically hinge on that factor in a way important enough to warrant the attention?
-
@Arkandel Mostly because I heard people like bloodlines. The game could function just fine without them. But I know people like them and I think we could get some really neat bloodlines to fit that desert/Las Vegas feel.
