Steam Summer 2015 sale, beware!
-
So with the Summer Sale over, anyone have any purchase regrets?
-
Kinda. The Modern Warfare Bundle. I knew they were short, but a mediocre FPS player like myself shouldn't be able to finish the single player in under 6 hours. Still it was a fun 5 and a bit hours at least for COD MW 2, cliches and all.
Still I have played Borderlands DLC longer than that.

My Purchase Regrets was the original Dark Souls on PC. I wasn't aware it was such a horrible port and due to how I have my computers setup (for work security) applying the fixes that players made for the companies shitty setup takes me like an extra 6 hours.
I bought Planetary Annihilation against my own better judgement. I loved, absolutely loved the kickstarter but the company kind of fucked up development and the game isn't as good as I'd hoped even at the sale price. I wish more developers would look at Pillar's of Eternity and how they handled their kickstarter and delivery. Though obviously they just finished development and release recently, but still they handled themselves very well and appeased most of their funders.

Small World 2 and Town of Salem. I can't get ToS to run properly, and SM2 was just... boring as Hell.
Edit: Oh, and Witcher (original). The movement is awkward, the attack is slow to respond, and I fin the controls to be overall counter-intuitive. Still need to boot up Witcher 2 to see if the problem persists there.

After 2 failed attempts, I figured out what Witcher was expecting. I'm going to try and stick through it.
Grumble.

Space Colony, and Prison Architect. The former had a very good tutorial, but some of the mission play is kinda. Blah. Prison Architect, had an interesting introduction style tutorial, but a lot was left uncovered in terms of starting from scratch.

I picked up Broforce, which was on sale recently.
If you like Metal Slug, grab it. It's hella addictive. The characters are tribute/parodies of action movie heroes (and a couple of monsters). John Rambro, Bro Hard, Ellen Ripbro, the Predabro, Brobocop, and so on.

Knee Deep where one of the MUSH communities own (Brody from Otherspace) was on the development team. Not on sale, still gonna buy it.

I bought FF7 during a Steam Sale because why not.
But it requires an account. Wha? Fine.
I make an account and validate it.
I load up FF7 again and enter my account information.
I gives me a "bad gateway" error.
So I can't play.
And thus ends my experience with Final Fantasy.

@Thenomain I'm going to have to go home and see if this re-occurs for me. I already had the game and an account from years ago. Curious to see if something changed.
Also, in theory, Theno your issue may be resolved on the steam forums already.

This has been going on since 2013. Seems to be a thing on SE's side. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. All you can do is hope the servers are up at the time you want to play it, really.
The only solution seems to be run as administrator.

@Coin The best part about it is that each little Bro handles differently.
Ripley has a pulse gun that stuns enemies, and after repeated shots they burst and take out nearby doodz. Her special attack is that she sets off a plasma charge that forms a moving wall in front of her.
Conan-er, Bronan is straight-up melee, but he does a ton of damage. His special attack is that he jumps up in the air, does the Arnold scream ("UWAAAAAAAAAAA!") and sends out a radial shockwave where he lands that kills pretty much everything.
Cherry Darling's basic fire command lifts her up in the air and she basically rains down death with her gun leg. Yes, she can use it to fly. That's a feature, not a bug.
Double Bro Seven has his silenced PPK (it doesn't draw the attention of enemies) and four different specials. He starts off by throwing his martini glass (it doesn't do any meaningful damage), then he moves on to his jet pack, after that you can zap someone with his laser watch, and his last one is a disguise.

Broforce expansion is out too.It is based on The Expendables movies. Character names are like Bro Ceasar, Bro Christmas, etc.I stand corrected it's called The Expendabros and it's apparently free to play as a cross over title.

Just picked up...
Sunless Sea
Not a big fan of the interface, the story elements are strong, if you want a dark and hard-mode experience I'd suggest Darkest Dungeon over this.LISA
I really like this game so far. It is nicknamed the "painful" RPG because it presents you choices like permanent harm to your main character or the death of party members or loss of all items.Elder Scrolls Online
I only like this game because some of my friends play it. Paradoxically this game is not really good about keeping "groups" together during the questing/leveling phase of gameplay. PVP is a different story. -
I think I would have not bought Lisa if I had paid attention that it was jrpg-style turn-based combat, but with 'overwhelmingly positive' and all this money not burning a hole in my pocket because it doesn't exist, I picked it up anyway. We'll see how far I make it.
I made it through Breath of Death VII: The Beginning while barely knowing what was going on, so it's possible.
Still not playing Final Fantasy VII.

I regret nothing.
