Don't act like this is the same thing as [...] those pornstars who look 16 but are really 19.

If you're relying on this one, you're about 1000% more likely to be 'accidentally' doing RL harm than anyone RPing ageshit on a MU.

Also: every MU any of us plays on relies entirely on a 'You must be 18 to play here' warning that does nothing to assure children are not playing here. Anyone who TSes on any game without knowing the other player extensively enough to verify their RL life details is taking an equivalent risk to be exposing an actual minor to sexual content. Most players I know started when they were underage.

That said, I return you to your regularly scheduled episode of MU:SVU.

I know. Let's hope the people who have aren't down with people simulating pedophilia just go away. Those horrible, judgmental, oppressive anti-pedophiles, why can't they just fuck off and let people get down with TS roleplay with child characters without passing judgment? So rude.

So, if this is all just much-ado and nothing bad is going on, I'm assuming no one would be bothered if someone reached out to a watchdog group about the pedophilia RP at places like Cyberrun and PenDes to make sure that they're added to a watchlist for kid-safe browsing?

I would hope that any game with an 18+ player age policy is added to a 'do not allow kids to access this' filter.

That means probably 95% of the games in the hobby if not more, and I am perfectly comfortable with this for the reasons bored describes a few posts up.

            Oh fucking well.

@Paulie-Walnuts No clue, and I don't particularly care.

Not remotely relevant to the point in any case.

If the question is 'how would you feel about these two sex games being added to a parental control filter'? The answer is 'anything that is meant for an 18+ audience should be added to that filter, not just two sex games'.

                It's not complicated.

                Oh fucking well.

Cyberrun is flagged and filtered, Net Nanny approved. It also has CyberRun is an adult game, you must be at least 18 years of age to play. on its home page, something most MUs do not, likely to avoid looking like a den of sin and depravity. Joke is - all MUs that haven't outright banned TS are dens of sin, depravity, and mudsex with strangers - any of whom might be children.

On Cyberrun, all of a character's channel & private communication in-game, IC & OOC, is stored in a window that cannot be closed separately from the main game window and it has a pretty sizable buffer, so any parent interested in what their wayward child is doing online cannot be stymied by their child quickly closing and re-opening the game, a la most of the telnet clients that play host to MUs.

There is something to be said for transparency in the bid to keep actual children safe. A conversation about what steps any game, from Cyberrun to My Little Ponies MU to games in the process of opening, can take to further ensure that parents and internet porn-blockers can stay one step ahead of children wandering into adult play spaces would be much more mildly constructive.

I mean, there's a CHANCE someone legit made an account 2 days ago, specifically using a Sopranos character name/face, but I reeeeeeeeally doubt it.

Where can I confirm this? Net nanny doesnt publish their blacklist sites, so the only way I see to know is to pay for their service.

Could you post a screenshot from your netnanny account that shows this site on it?

Just because something isn't on a blacklist doesn't mean it doesn't fit the blacklist guidelines. Just that it hasn't been added yet.

But that is somewhat beside the point. It's exceptionally difficult to establish that an internet user is over eighteen, and parents/guardians need to take some responsibility over what their children have access to online rather than relying on an internet service to do it for them.

If my child is exposed to materials I disapprove of on the internet, that's not anyone's fault but my own for allowing them to see it. I can't expect a free and open internet and also expect it to always conform to my views, interests, and beliefs.
