Somewhat related, people have been trying to hit on me for years by complimenting my PB's attractiveness, and not for my life can I think of a response to that. Uh... thanks for thinking someone who isn't me is pretty enough to be worth your attraction, I guess?

I'm generally loath to get into anything beyond that out of the irrational fear that someone will see me goofing around on a forum and page me on-game like "hey, so..."

Playing a character on a MU is not writing a character in a story. At least not as far as I'm concerned. It is embodying a character through word and action in a real-time interaction with other people.

I don't really see that as being different? MU* storytelling will be a bit... fast and loose, obviously, compared to a written work that undergoes revision and editing, but ultimately the same sort of thing.

A good story invites us to identify with the characters "on-screen" to at least some degree, and the creator (by necessity) is the one who embodies them in their creation.

...but this is a bit off-topic, I guess

The main difference, at least in my interpretation, When writing, I'm not the character. All the characters are there, they interact, etc... but I'm not doing the action.

It's the difference between writing a play and acting it out.

I've largely found MUSHes to be far more progressive when it comes to gender/sexuality politics than when it comes to race.

If you say so. I've found that people's progressive attitudes toward my gender and sexuality directly correlate to how much they can fap to them, which I guess is better than a lot of reactions but is still pretty creepy.

This is the perk of being pansexual. People mistake me for woke because I'll fap to anything.

I just want EVERYONE. All the time. Actual compatibility, attraction, etc. doesn't matter. Being bi just means I wanna sleep with everything that moves. SORRY.
