      TL;DR Cyberpunk Red. I'm attempting.

      Home page

I had a mighty need to practice Python for work. Being employed for a game company, I thought writing a MUSH-Like was the decent thing to do. Plus, Evennia 1.0-Dev has a few tools that I want to tinker out of the box.

I'm well aware that there's a lot to do. So far, I've been focusing on character generation. Stats/skills are done. Cybernetics is underway - I'm saving the lifepath for last. I'm just not sure how to handle that yet. πŸ™‚

If there's interest, I can make updates. I was posting partially to give a heads up and make the project more natural for me - partial to see if it's even worth going forward with the exercise (I totally think so!)

      More later. Thanks for reading!

I did a little site updating in place of being extra productive at work today. πŸ˜›
I'm digging how more dynamic the layout is now than the above. Code is going well; I'm about halfway through setting up the commands I need for the +sheet and +cg commands; woo! Still so much to do - but little victories, right?

Just saw this, as I've been on hiatus from gaming. Any updates on the progress? I'd be super interested as well.

@Nessa, I've gotten really bad at logging into this place. πŸ™‚ Life hit me for a while, but thanks to AI tools, my job is nothing now - so I have loads of free time, haha!

I've recently been reconsidering Cyberpunk Red. I found a game called Neon City Overdrive that's super narrative and fast.

I'm just not sure what people want more/would work better. A rules-light system to promote RP or a crunchy title (Shadowrun 3rd, cyberpunk) I should build around.

                    Any feedback is amazing!

I think Cyberpunk will get interest based on its name, but I think that a rules-lite game would be easier to operate.

@Ganymede Hundred percent! I'd rather get right to the fun than build another six months for a community maybe. Neon City is good fun. I think those willing to give it a chance might enjoy it! Thanks for the feedback!

Wow. I've gotten a lot of feedback. Way more than I was expecting; that's awesome. Thanks, folks. πŸ™‚

So the overwhelming vote is for Cyberpunk Red. I hear you.
I am taking a break from writing MUSH for what feels like forever, and now I am trying out Evennia. I have made significant progress in setting up stats and skills, and once the sheet is ready, I can start inviting people to beta tests.

I'll make sure to try and keep you all as up-to-date as I can. It may be a bit between them though, just to warn. Infrastructure rarely makes for good updates (for the rest of you) I've found. :3

@Kumakun I would be down to do beta testing! My schedule is a little weird, but I can be on nights. I love love love Cyberpunk RED and was a big fan of 2020.

I agree with @Ganymede about rules lite. Neon City is good, The Sprawl is good (though trying to adapt a powered by the apocalypse game to MU* sounds a bit painful, plus it's an old PBTA game, and it's definitely showing its age).

Newer players who aren't familiar with the source material may only be familiar with the more streamlined attribute/skill system in the video game, so that could be a benefit when doing systems work. You could even go Ares with it, modifying stats to fit the core Cyberpunk ones, then just use the proprietary system with AresMUSH.

Another option would be CY_BORG, which is a cyberpunk version of MORK BORG.

I don't think I would suggest Sprawlrunners or CBR+PNK, as those are a bit too light on the rules - and the latter is designed more for the "one last run and then I retire" kind of character.

Really excited for more cyberpunk stuff! I need reasons to procrastinate on dissertation!
