As a partial non-sequitur, how the hell can I go straight to the first unread post?

Up on the top where it says Mu Soapbox, there should be a little like inbox icon, and it'll have a number next to it representing the number of unread threads. Click it and you get a list of new posts.

If you mean how do you go to the first unread post on a thread after clicking one of the thread names on the Unread page, as near as I can figure out you can't. At least, it has never worked for me with any accuracy. Even when the pop-up appears in the upper right that offers to take me to my last spot in the thread, on long threads it at best only takes me within a few days of that position. And, since times are given relative to now rather than as actual times, determining what I've read by when I knew I was reading last is more difficult. None of which is a big deal.

Weird, the little popup in the upper right corner is fairly accurate for me. Not always, but enough that I still use it.

The popup comes if you click on the topic, but if you click on actual post, it shoots you right to it. Like @Miss-Demeanor, it works okay for me most of the time, but not always.

The majority of the time the little pop up is not accurate for me.

For the most part it's accurate for me, except when it just goes NOPE! and sits at white space.
(Also I prefer the old way, but don't really care much either way).

Exactly what I meant. I searched all over for a little icon or arrow or whatever on the unread post page or the subforum page. I never saw a little popup box and had no idea it existed till now.
So you have to just click the thread title and hope for it to show up to take you to your last position. Good to know, if/when it works. Out of curiousity, why was this forum software chosen? Yeah, that's sort of a PA complaint about how much I dislike it. But I'll adapt, not to mention it's a free board and gift horses blah blah blah.

@TNP Are you talking from the unread posts page? For me I click on the part that says "Replied X amount of time ago" and it takes me to the latest post in the thread, constantly.

It takes you to the latest post... not the last one you read. Sometimes, if it's a hot topic, it could be pages ago
It's not a big deal, but somewhat annoying. -
I like the preview thing on the side, but I kind of wish it told me what thread the previews were for.

Is there any way the thing on the side can say when the last reply was made, rather than when the thread was created?
