Who is gonna play Mysterium with me on Halloween?
Huh? Huh?

Fallout 76 is worth buying. That is all. Carry on.

This is true.

While it can be a crapshoot at times, some of the best RPGs of the past few years started on Kickstarter. This one has some promise, I've already invested.

@jaded I admit to not being that impressed by the opening pitch of their video that the age of party based RPGs is an ancient and forgotten time of glory.
A fair few good party based RPGs have come out over the past few years and a lot of the old ones were dreadful!

Fallout 4 was barely worth buying. What about 76 puts it above its older clone?

If you liked Witcher and you like Gwent, Thronebreaker is fun.

@packrat
Yeah I caught that too but I focused on the substance of the game and the way it was designed. Once I have the game, how it plays and the fun I get out of it will be more important than what a pitch video to get people to invest said. -
First bounty in RDR2, I was in the quest zone and going up the hill next to the river when my camera panned right and I saw a stranger NPC riding through. I didn't know yet that the game doesn't obscure the bounty NPC's name like that or that strangers are pretty much everywhere in the game, so I assumed he was the target. I:
- Charged across the river, almost getting swept away in the process
- Chased him for like thirty miles because my aim with the lasso was shit
- Hogtied him and started heading back, when I noticed the quest zone was still there and the quest didn't update.
- Charged back across the river, almost didn't make it AGAIN
- Discreetly went to the top of the hill, yep, actual dude is right fucking there. Oops!
- Tried to let the stranger NPC go and he started swinging and melee mode kicks in sooo
- Push circle: my guy autoequips his knife and stabs the NPC right in the goddamn stomach. NPC ded, instantly. OOPS
- I throw the body in the river because why not lol
I am the worst bounty hunter.

Dragon's Dogma (Dark Arisen) has ended up being the game I wish Skyrim was.
It could use more punch in the characterization, but I'm having a hell of a fun time tripping over little secrets and distracting myself from the main plot because, oh, what's this cave for? And: Oh shit I didn't realize that there was one of those there shit shit shit run run run!
-
I felt like that the entire time I played it. What's that thing? Shit it looks mean. Better to find something smaller.

Thus far, I do not think it does. Sure it looks amazing. It certainly has an interesting primary story line (which explains the lack of human NPC's). Some of the events were entertaining.
But the game mechanics themselves, and the perks system isn't growing on me. I have hours left of beta to play. I logged out. The friends list mechanic is horribly broken. The fact you are region and server locked is irritating in an MMO, and counter-intuitive.

@tragedyjones @Admiral Are you guys playing Fallout 76 on console or PC? I'm hoping to get a good group together so I don't have to play with weirdos.
-
@magicgirl57 Jonah42175 looks around Guys? Um.... Who wants to be the one to tell her?

I made the mistake of finally deciding that I would play a Disgaea game through.
95 hours in and still going strong though the post-game of Disgaea 5, my stats on my sage are at about 16 million each. The screams of bear demons haunt my dreams at night, I've captured so many. There is still so much further to go. I can't even hurt Baal yet, much less the Carnage version.
I tell myself "just one more map". Ten maps later, I tell myself "just one more map".

I got into streaming Mass Effect 2 after having it for several years (got it for free from Origin when they were still giving free games away). I never thought I'd get into a game like that like I have, but... holy hell. I really do like it.

@tiredewok
I'm doing a giant replay of the trilogy to psyche myself up for another go at Andromeda (which I was luke-warm on after launch, but do want to return to). Finishing up ME3 right now. The ME games have their flaws, but for FEELINGS I have found no better for me. -
The only thing better than ME2 is ME3’s Citadel DLC, which you must play through ME3 to appreciate, so ME2 still wins for consistency,
ME:A is playable, but it suffers the rushed production cycle. And it suffers a lot of SSDG (same stuff, different galaxy). The implementation is still better than FO4, but even at their worst I think BioWare tells better stories than Bethesda.
(Note: The end of ME3 did not change my opinion that the Mass Effect trilogy was the best series of computer games ever made.)

The rushed production cycle made things feel clipped, yes. And it's still a space-exploration sort of game, with mindless side-quests.
But it is a very pretty game for a first-run high-end game. The freeform combat, mixed with cover, was enjoyable. And I loved how you could mix-and-match your powers to fit your play-style, with bonuses given if you group your powers into the traditional three classes.
ME:A, I think, got shat on a little too hard. I enjoyed it a great deal. The character interactions were not as strong as in ME:2 or ME:3, but they are comparable or better than what you had in ME, which is the proper benchmark where we are just getting to learn about the protagonist.
I liked the Pathfinder a lot. I liked the story arcs. I really liked Lexi, Drack, and Vetra.
Horizon Zero Dawn is light-years ahead, but that's like comparing apples and orgasms.
