DC Rebirth

Bit of an update here, we're still having a bit of a player lull but we've added some staff and I'm looking to kick off a major TP very soon. The TP is designed to inspire RP and will be centered around Gotham. I'm hoping that it inspires RP on all levels (hero, villain, civilians, PD, gangsters, etc and so on). I think it's going to be a blast.

DC update: We're still in a bit of a player slump but we do have RP going on regularly with those who have stayed with us. We also continue on with the TP that will transform Gotham into No Man's Land. I'm also pondering a possible soft reboot of the game with a new name, something that more embraces our theme. Not sure what or how that will come about yet but there often seems to be some confusion about what exactly our theme is. I'm hoping to clear that up a bit.
So for those interested there are a ton of great characters to be apped and we have a really good core player base and I'm quite excited for the changes coming to Gotham.

I am looking forward to actually RPing here. As soon as I got someone approved the first time around my life exploded big time and took my desire to RP with it.

I just started playing here. It seems to be a bit quiet, but the people are friendly, and they seem invested. I'm really excited to get into some stuff. Maybe get some more people on board, so we can see this game really thrive. I think that maybe the biggest barrier to people might be the cg system stuff. I assure you that it's actually not that hard to deal with, and if you're intimidated by it, the staff is more than willing to help you, or possibly even make your sheet for you in a collaborative effort. There's plenty of available characters left, too. Including iconic characters. So, you know, there's that.

OMG! Who are you there?! Fucking tell me and/or poke me. I am Selina.

Hello there!
I'm very interested in participating in your roleplay. I do have a few questions, though, and forgive me if they've been answered before, I just had a lot going on while trying to read and such.
First, I'm a bit confused. Which system are you using, exactly? Is it the DC Heroes game, by Mayfair Games, or is it the DC Adventures Game by Green Ronin? I'm happy and comfortable with either, just curious so I know on the front end.
Secondly, is there a way to see which characters are available, and so forth? I saw the wiki, but there's only a small handful listed in both taken and available characters. Also, I saw no way to contact anyone there, so I just happened to stumble across it here, which I'm glad I did.
Which exactly is the actual setting of the game? I've seen references to both the New 52 and the new Rebirth. I'm really hoping its like the name says and is Rebirth
And finally, for the moment, is there a template, or a pregenerated copy of the more common characters? Knowing which system will help immensely as well! And I'm assuming this is like a forum/play by post game? Or is it live like in a chat room or over a messenger?
Anyway, I think that's all I can think of now. If you could please let me know so I can register that'd be great! I'm really looking forward to it. I don't know how this site alerts you to replies and such, so if you could, please drop me a line at
Thank you very much!

Hi. I'm a new player to the game, myself, so I don't want to go speaking on anyone's behalf or anything, but I can answer a few questions you asked.
First, the game uses the DC Heroes RPG. The Mayfair games system. 3rd Edition. Sometimes the headstaff will look to the DC Adventures (GR) game to get an idea of how to stat out characters that weren't in the older game, but that's really it.
Available characters are able to be seen on-game with a few commands. You can see who is approved and who is available with the commands +roster and +approved, I do believe. +Approved shows you what characters are currently being played in the game, and +roster shows you what characters are approved and what characters are currently open. The list is not exhaustive, by any means, so if you don't see the character you're looking for on the list, just app them. If they don't have a sheet in the old game, you can make one in the character generation rooms. It's fairly simple to use. That's what I did with my character.
The game is an MU*, so it's not play-by-post or anything. It's more like livechat. If you aren't familiar with MU* style games, there are plenty of resources on this very site that can help you. At it's core, an MU* is a multi-user text based game. They operate through telenet, or with the aid of a special client. There are a lot of client apps available out there, and I couldn't tell you which is the best. I use Potato and love it. That being said, you're interacting directly with other players in real time, so it's more like a live chat kind of experience. Just with coding and programmed commands.
I hope I was able to answer some of your questions. If you need any other help, or have any questions regarding anything I said, feel free to ask right here. I'm always happy to help.

Hello there! That sounds wonderful. I've got a lot of resources for the DC Heroes system so that's cool. So that's not a problem at all!
I'll probably need some help with those commands, that sort of thing isn't my strong suit. But I learn pretty quick.
I'm not overly familiar with MU* but as I said, I pick up quick. Live is much better. I play either live table top, or in HTML based chat rooms which are, of course, live. I don't imagine this would be terribly different. Resources are our friends! I'll check out Potato and any other recommendations.
You were, very much so, and I greatly appreciate it. I'm sure I'll be taking you up on that offer often!
Have a great day!

Sounds good. I look forward to seeing you on game, then. If, after you pick out a client, you need any help with connecting to the game, just let us know. The commands are all pretty simple, too, so nothing to worry about there.

Fantastic! I got Potato, but I'm kind of needing some information.
Do I need to create an account or something to log onto it? What are the connection information for the connection? A brief primer of commands would be helpful and useful too, thank you very much! I'm really looking forward to this
Thank you again for all your help, now and in the future!

Okay, so with Potato, when you first open it, you'll see the standard kind of stuff at the top. Just click on File>Address Book. This will open up a new window within Potato. Click New World from the selection of items towards the bottom. It will pop up another dialogue window. Add in the Name section "DC Rebirth" or whatever you want to call the game. Then in the Host section type dcrebirthmux.com. In the Port section, type in 2001. Click Okay. On the Address book window, click close.
You're ready to connect to DC Rebirth, at that point. So, just click File>Connect To>DC Rebirth. You don't have a character yet, so you won't have anything to save for a character. Just click "No Character".
You'll see the log in screen of the game. It will prompt you for your name and password. You'll see three options here. Just type "connect guest" and press return. This will bring you onto the game as a guest. In the first room, I think you'll have to type "I agree" and that will bring you into the nexus room where you can talk to us on game and we can go over some commands with you and talk about what characters we have available and what you're interested in doing.
