@auspice I think your interviewer was multi-mushing, if the interview scene got so slow and distracted. You should have said something OOC and bailed. Rewarding that sort of distracted play is a waste of your time. You should raise a complaint to the staff of the place. Do they have a +gripe command?
He did apologize for it, so he realized he was distracted. We were also two introverts in a room alone (they usually have 2 interviewers, but... skeleton crew due to holiday). Part of the interview was 'how do you integrate with a new team?' and I admitted that I'm a big introvert, but explained how I work to overcome that and what tools/methods I've found work. He said he is too and that he did struggle to integrate. So I think it just hit that usual point that two introverts do: we were both out of steam, we'd run past our commonalities, aaaaaand... neither of us are good closers, apparently.
But I'm hoping it doesn't fall back on me that he got distracted (I specifically did my best to keep angled away from the glass windows so it didn't happen to me, ha!).

Selling my house. The market in my neighbourhood is sort of weird. Got the pricing recommendation, and it's a range that we're really happy about - even if we had to choose the lowest number in the range, we'd still hit our target.
I'm excited for the opportunity for the new house, but I need to sell this one before that works. And I also need to have the buyer be cool with the idea they can't take possession until, like May. If they're pushy about it, I guess I'll move my small army of a family to my folks' place... and find a locker for all my stuff.
I don't get overly stressed about much, but this is doing it.

Update: I have a therapist appointment for the 8th, which is the day before my birthday.
My best friend and another friend practically had to pull teeth to get me to make the appointment, but I ultimately did it.
-
Not all therapists are created equal. Like anything/anyone else, there are good ones and bad ones. And when it comes to doctors in general, even good ones aren't for everyone. You need to find one you click with and if this one doesn't work out, try again till you find the right one for you.

I used to work in the building with Atlassian's Austin office. It's a pretty swell facility but they've got some serious turnover issues, or did when I was there.

I'm looking for a new backpack - duffel bags are nice, but my new gym is a 45 minute walk away, and I do like to occasionally walk there when the weather isn't fucking freezing as it is now, but diagonally straps are annoying over somewhat longer distances.
Does anyone have any recommendations? It needs to be spacious since it'd need to fit my shoes and belt, and I'd rather not pay triple digits for a freakin' bag.
-
@arkandel I know this will sound weird but...
On sale for $10 right now. I have the Handbag of Holding and this thing is AMAZING.
-
@miss-demeanor That really does look amazing, sadly no UK delivery. Dammit.
-
I love my Handbag of Holding. I do not regret the day I finally bit the bullet and purchased it.

It's not like I didn't do a whole thread on this or anything....
-
@packrat Yeah, thinkgeek has awesome stuff. I'm surprised they won't deliver UK!

They don't? Damn. Lame on ThinkGeek for that.
-
@auspice Right? Super lame.

Backpack: $9.99
Shipping: $8.95Is this backpack that good?
(edit: the leather backpack of holding is $70 right now, too, which if it's even halfway decent leather is a good deal. Most leather is more 'pressboard' of leather, and if the Rolltop Backpack of Holding is the same quality as a Jansport then $10 is pretty much what it's worth. $10 shipping tho? Dear god!)
(edit edit: More complains than compliments about the Adventurer's Leather Backpack of Holding. Bah!)

I will go on to say that a month into the Under Armor bag I got on Faraday and Ghosts suggestions which would probably fit your needs, it's been good. I carry my laptop (15" Macbook), lunch, sometimes a hoodie, and various other things. I could do a "what's in Auspice's bag" photo if you'd like. I think it was about $45 when I got it off Amazon. I walk about 2-3 miles + bus with it 5 days a week.
-
@thenomain I wouldn't get the leather one, it doesn't look properly treated. The regular line, however, are well crafted and meant to hold all your gaming gear for everything from weekly D&D sessions to cons.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year, fellow nerds!

@arkandel I've bought some swiss army bags. They're great. Lots of room, super comfortable, price for me was about $45 CAD.

Swiss gear holds up nicely, but get the ones with the zippers that have the bigger teeth. The small ones tend to get bent after a year or so, and they never stay closed again. I've gone through three in four years because of zipper issues. The rest of the bag is sturdy as hell.
