@Auspice Sorry that you had to deal with that. Hopefully it wasn't a multi-day one and you're feeling better now.
Out of curiosity, what medication do you take for your migraines? My doctor has me on Topamax daily to reduce frequency and injectable sumatriptan for when I have a migraine.

150mg Topiramate (Topamax) - 50mg in the morning, 100mg at night.
I have sumatriptan to take when I get a migraine, but it has yet to actually ever help. And I had another migraine hit last night and I've been in aftershocks today. I pretty much just want my days off (Mon/Tue) to be here so I can hide in bed.
-
@Auspice Yeah, I'm on 100mg both morning and night and it's really helped with the frequency. I've also noticed that when I do get them, they don't tend to be as quite as bad; I don't have multi-day migraines too often anymore when I'm just puking like crazy and end up going to the ER out of desperation.
One of my co-workers just got a migraine for a first time and was asking me how on Earth I deal with them so regularly. It was eye opening to her how different migraines are from regular headaches.
So many times, I've had people be like 'what's the big deal? it's just a headache' and I just want to stab them through the eye with an ice pick. NO. NOT THE SAME AT ALL.
May you have darkness and quiet as much as possible until make it to your days off and you can just curl up in bed.

Adamson's BBQ... the best goddamn barbecue in Toronto, and the stomping grounds of my team at work as of an hour ago.
I can't move. Plz send help.

Considering the increased frequency of migraines over the past two weeks as compared to when I began my current dosage of topiramate, I think the meds have lost their effectiveness. I was down to 1-2 a month (I was spending 5-6 days a week suffering this time last year). Now I'm back up to 2-4 days a week.
And the sumatriptan does absolutely nothing and so far no doctor believes me when I tell them so.

So, doctor visit today. Went over lab work. I am... not diabetic! I am not even pre-diabetic. My numbers on that front are, apparently, great! High cholesterol, tho I'm imagining anyone even remotely overweight is in that camp.
I do have a vitamin D deficiency. Easily resolved.
We're gonna up my topiramate and hope it helps this recent spike in migraines. Also going back on the ambien for insomnia. Woo.

Actually, no. Totally possible to have great cholesterol and be overweight so don't think you need to lose weight to get it down.
-
@tnp This sometimes comes with some unpleasant side effects, though. Like the oh-so-pleasant liver stones.
The docs last year initially told me they normally would not have tried the kind of surgery they were going to try on me (which has some weirdnesses to the specifics, I guess) because I am overweight, and like most others, they assumed it also meant my blood sugar was shit, my cholesterol was through the roof, etc.
...but they were doing every test under the sun for days, and saw that absolutely every one of my numbers, save for blood pressure being slightly high at the higher end sometimes, were not just OK, but really, really good.
The really, really good on the cholesterol, though, is due to the liver stones, though, they suspect, for I am a protein whore.

I have, thus far, been utterly unable to lose weight, no matter what I do. Dieting, nope. Exercise, nope. Medication changes and 'oh this medication helps people lose weight,' nope. Even tho my thyroid is being treated, I have hashimoto's and, well. often it'll just fuck you over in the weight dept.

@auspice If you've never tried it, ask your doctor about phentermine. It's an old drug, non-addictive, and relatively cheap.

I was in a conversation yesterday after a post-work soccer game with collegues about how it was going to help a friend lose fat.
I showed him this later on from my Fitbit, regarding that same game's impact:
493 calories isn't worth jack shit. It's maybe half a burger - or a slice and a half of pizza. Maybe.
Losing fat takes place in the kitchen, not the treadmill.

It could also be that you're a lazy, slow soccer player too.
I mean, just saying, bruh.
I'd say I ran at least as much as my fellow players, with a couple of outliers outrunning me.
Which is to say we are all slow, old fucks.

So around two weeks ago, I had a thyroid ultrasound, and they found some nodules, one of which was over 1.5cm and it may need aspirated/biopsied. So I had my first appointment with a specialist today. Got a TON of labs taken (like 7 vials of blood), as well as some body-comp and liver-comp scans, and I have a follow-up next Friday. Since I've been gaining a lot of weight the past few months, and Hashimoto's may be involved, the multi-attack approach is much appreciated.
And then I have my cardiologist appointment this afternoon.

Today I saw two hipsters get out of a car in the middle of busy traffic in order to help a woman in her early 40s get her stalled car into a nearby parking lot.
What people say about hipsters could've been said about any generation. It's just as true, and that's great.

Something in the air (spring pollen I assume) keeps causing me to break out in hives.
SUCH FUN.
As if I needed more of an excuse to hide indoors all the time.
-
I am practically drunk right now.
I am doing this for two reasons:
- To amuse @Cobaltasaurus, @EmmahSue , and skfreebyte. We just played board games and I think we all were tres amused by each other, and I helped.
- More importantly, because I have a pinched nerve somewhere and it makes my arm hurt. I wish I could keep this buzz going because it's more fun than constantly taking an Advil for the week it's going to take to get to my doctor with, "Okay, now what?"

Aww, what a shame.
It was a beautiful day, well, at least it was here, The sun was out for the first time in almost a week and it got up to almost 70 degrees. I spent most of the afternoon out in the gazebo with the laptop, alternating between watching reruns of Blue Planet and Dr Who on DirectTV Now and working on my game. Which reminds me, I must get a tea pot to keep outside so I don't have to keep running in and out of the house.

From what research I've done, it seems to be the mountain cedar pollen. And it seems anyone who has grown up / spent a good deal of time around the northeast US reacts even worse to it.
So I guess while I'll enjoy spring being warmer, I'm gonna be v. itchy. 'Cause it's not like I can pop a benadryl on my way out the door to work (I have a hard enough time being awake as it is!).

Double post, don't care.
I hate my legs.
I hate whatever is wrong with my legs.
I hate that the last round of 'doctors and specialists and tests, oh my!' years ago came out with 'shrug? maybe it's some atypical fibro symptom.'They hurt. Just about all the time. Most of the time it's just a deep ache, down in the bone (which is why the fibro thing is hinky; that's usually just muscular). Sometimes that pain gets so bad all I can do is lie down and focus on remembering to breathe.
Some days, I wake up and can barely walk. Today is one of those days. I get up, stand up, and... fall over. Proceed to spend the rest of the morning making sure I'm near a wall for when one (or both) my legs invariably begins to give out.
This happens. I know it happens. I'm just especially bummed out because yesterday I had a good day. I felt good. I was about as pain free as I get. If I hadn't been at work, I probably would have tried finding someone to go out to a park or something with me.
Days like this also cost me more because they mean I definitely can't walk/bus to work and taking the bus most of the way home is dicey, too. Here's hoping car situ gets worked out soon.
