1992-2001
The worst person you knew on every WoD MUSH*.
2001-2003
Played Everquest. You're welcome.
2003-Today
Project Infinity - Iori Yagami, Mad Stan
Some cross-universe Marvel New York traits-based game a bunch of PI people played on but whose name I don't recall - Martin
Tenebrae - Rokvald, Iggy, Plague (Staff)
Crucible City - Operating Thetan (never approved), Bum Rush
Devilshire - Cedric, Saint, Tim, Natt, Ringo, Bob, Thousand Truths (Staff)
Star Wars: Sagas - Taye (the second one, who dumped all his girlfriends and made that cheddar for Black Sun until the game committed suicide-by-finale.)
The Reach - Silas (I think?)
String Theory - Saul, Sam
GleeMUSH - Will, Blaine
STF - Tommy, Etta
Gray Harbor - Andy
Arx - Ariella (the cool one with the finest armor on the game and a sword Felix declared the best sword he's ever made and the boat crew that were a great joke only one person ever got who I quit because someone got obsessed with the character and got angry with me that I wouldn't play her as more bicurious) Brigida (the one who talked about your grandparents fucking and who I quit because, no juicy details, I felt like I got screwed by something and couldn't see how the character's story could continue) Niklas (the second, third and current one) Gilroy (duh) and Hamish*A list to follow? OMG!
-
Please tell me GleeMUSH was not based on the show.
Please.
-
It was a MUSH I ran for myself.
I played Will, but I WANTED to play Rachel, but I kept turning my app down because it was very disturbing. Eventually I got very abusive and had to siteban myself.

GleeMUSH - Will, BlaineLulz, what girlfriends? Just people who expected things and got mad at you 'cuz I bailed without delivering. Also, you were like the fourth one, 'cuz the vast majority of that history was there before I got to the character.
Sup, by the way.

@coin If we were the 3rd and 4th, then 1 and 2 made no impact. People looked for you for a while, though!
Maybe not girlfriends, but Coruscant was littered with the broken hearts of twi'lek dancers who were sad that the new Taye was mostly interested in earning enough credits to buy a spaceship.
PS That ship was his tomb. I got out in the black and then didn't feel like figuring out how the code worked to go places. Logged out for two weeks, came back and the Empire was gone and apparently the interim government didn't have any plans to maintain the economy. Also, logins had dropped by like 95%.
The best part of that game was sharing dark secrets with Trilony.
"I'm the secret heiress of a mega-rich merchant family who most believe is dead!"
"Oh. I punched my aunt once."
"What?"
"Laid. That. Bitch. OUT." -
OMG STAR WARS SAGAS.
Brief reenactment of my time there:Wizz: (Man, been years since I booted up the ol' MUSHCLIENT. A Star Wars game with a roster?! Sounds fun! I haven't gamed in a long time and I've never played this system, maybe I will start nice and easy with this dirt farmer on Tatooine, sounds like a cakewal--)
STAFF: OHOHO, SOMEONE HAS FINALLY CHOSEN MY MASTERPIECE, YOU ARE SECRETLY A SYNTHETIC ANDROID MURDERER AND THE EMPIRE WILL DESTROY YOU IF THEY FIND OUT YOU EVEN EXIST SO MAYBE JUST KEEP IT ON THE DL AND KEEP DIRT FARMING BECAUSE DOING LITERALLY ANYTHING ELSE WOULD BE SUPER SKETCH, ALSO FIND YOUR FAKE BRO NOBODY HAS PLAYED IN THREE YEARS WHO IS LITERALLY YOUR ONLY SHEET RELATIONSHIP
Wizz: ........................... Hey man seen my bro?
One And Only Rando On Tatooine: lol nope, smell ya later! * blasts off into space*
Wizz: k. -

"Laid. That. Bitch. OUT."IIRC, he also ahd a "in love with Trilony" secret that we laughed a lot about.
And there was the ONE Twi'Lek! ONE.
I only played him like two weeks, too.

I kinda hate galaxy spanning star wars mushes for this reason. I just popped into Star Wars Rebirth recently and was shocked it had so many players, but finding RP is like pulling teeth because everyone just idles in their ship or are spread out one PC per planet.

I remember Sagas.
The head wiz docked me XP because I wasn't wearing the right object-clothing for a particular adventure.
After that, I was pretty much out.

I had this happen to me on a D&D mush once because I wasn't wearing 'sensible adventuring shoes' in my description. The Gm wanted to apply a -5 to everything I did for wearing wooden sandals you see in like every ninja cartoon ever.

Sagas staff banned TS and were known to have objects that peeked in on private rooms, IIRC, soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Every NPC with whom I interacted on Sagas appeared to be hooked up to an ELIZA bot.
Then out of the blue, after I’d figured out whatever arcane bullshit it was they wanted from me to get anything done and started getting credits and was able to hire people for ?adventures?, some staffer approached me about Taye becoming a Jedi when they went post-movies. Which made me think that they had a post-RotJ plan. Except they clearly didn’t. And overnight their game died.
It was the weirdest place.
-
@coin ...oh, did our PCs shag on the game?
I mean...
-
-
@coin I didn't think so, but how could I not use that gif?
-
Okie doke.
List at the top updated with two superhero places I'd forgotten. Operating Thetan never got approved because Crucible City was all 'we don't want religious characters because it's insensitive' despite them having had one character who was literally the daughter of God and another character who was a racist voodoo caricature. Note that sensitivity didn't prevent them from approving Bum Rush, who made light of homelessness and veterans with PTSD.
I also played on some game whose name I've totally forgotten, but which had a bunch of PI people on it.
-
I am sorry you played on Project Infinity. I tried to play there (it was my first MUSH) because it seemed like an interesting theme, way back in... 1998, I think it was. The problem was when the first generation of staffers stepped down shortly after I joined and the second generation took over (the Zodiac Conspiracy clique). Trying to play any sort of hero was grounds for that itineration of staff to curbstomp you and railroad you into a corner from which you could never, ever escape. Pretty much the moment I found MetaMUX and then a couple of other games, I left and never looked back.
-
By the time I played there attempting to play anyone with any degree of superpowers was heavily frowned on. RP was dominated by cake making and dress shopping. But, hey, I met my wife there. She asked me to kill her and the rest is history.

...Wat.
I played there very briefly as Venom and actually had a really good time, but at that point the game was basically dead.
