She may not count as a celebrity for most people, but I'm heartbroken over Broadway star Marin Mazzie losing her fight against ovarian cancer at only 57. Theatre fans will know her from the original casts of Ragime, Passion, the last Kiss Me Kate revival, and a ton of other stuff. Her talent was breathtaking.

Greg Stafford.

A friend of mine reminded me of how I GMed his first RPG when we were in Grade 7. We played RuneQuest, for which Mr. Stafford was a designer and writer. All of us who played felt like nerdy outcasts, but we all enjoyed coming together to tell and write stories, battle enemies, and live out the fantasy of a farmer-turned-hero.

I can't wait to play RPGs with my kids, and I sigh with happy sentiments and resignation.

When I saw it, they were the only ones reporting. So I was hesitant that maybe...maybe...even though they usually know....maybe it wasn't true.

Oh, Stan. I love you. I love your worlds. I love how you stood against discrimination. My heart broke when you came out against the struggles you were having with people trying to control not just your enterprise, but your voice... Seeing your love for your creations on the screen and the men and women helping them take form once you were managing your Twitter was pure joy.
