How to BeipMU: The best MU Client for Windows
-
I'm only on BeipMU temporarily while my Macbook is out for repairs, but it's pretty keen. Kudos.

@reversed I saw both of those among the preferences somewhere but now I’m on my phone in a car and so cannot be more specific. YOU’RE WELCOME. I’m useless. I’m pretty sure I saw them.

@reversed For the latter, try Preferences > Activity Notify > Solid and see if that does it for you. For the former, right-click the speaker in your taskbar, pick 'Open Volume Mixer', and click the little speaker icon at the bottom of BeipMU's section -- that should mute the program. I'm pretty sure the 'you can't delete anymore' ding is an OS thing.

@reversed You could pop into the Discord (or just put an issue in the github) and ask the dev for that option!
As for the sound thing, sorry, I shouldn't talk when I'm half-asleep. I tested it and it didn't work anyway, I think because Beip isn't technically the one doing it. Still, it's another thing that could be brought up, and if there's a way to mute it he'd likely look into it. (And you also might find a solution poking around in Windows, so good plan!) -

@reversed I bring you a good news! The dev heard your complaint about the beep and did some poking around, and he's figured out how to disable it. When the next update comes out, that'll be in it.

Love this client, but wish it was more stable with WINE
-
@Darren Ooh, you're using it under WINE? Did it hang or crash in that picture or did it do that and keep otherwise working, and what were you doing/trying to do at the time? Does it do that a bunch? If you have Discord and want to drop in on the server, the dev (Bennet) would definitely be interested in talking to you about it (I asked).
-
The only problem seems to be with resizing the input window, which does something odd to the output window. Most of the time I can just /clear and everything is fine. Other times it crashes.
-
@Darren Thank you! He's curious what the 'show details' button would show, but he'll also try to repro the issue on his Ubuntu system and see if he can find what's going wrong.
-
Alas I have been unable to reproduce the crash problem on demand. If it happens again I will try to remember to take a screenshot.

Just noticed this on Win10 this morning. At first I thought it was because the time on my PC was off (I dual boot Windows and Linux and Windows doesn't like it when the clock is in UTC) but I closed the app, fixed the time, restarted it and the timestamps in the tooltips were still off.
-
@Darren Is this duplicating on other systems? (OS, etc)? What is the 'time' on the game server and does it match the incorrect time?
I find it unlikely that the MUHost isnt using NTP or is off by that much, so it could be that this setting is repeating the MU time, something stored in the registry for the app, or something in the app's settings.
I also find it unlikely that any sort of TOC/TOU attack or Race Condition attack would leave so obvious a hint that something is that off.
-
@Darren Check whether you're using version 291 of Beip, and if not, get that. There was a bug in the way the tooltip timestamps works that became clear only when December started, and that looks like the same result.
-
I'll check when I get home tonight. Thanks!

@Ninjakitten Apparently I was using 289. I updated to 291 and problem solved!
