Good TV

If any of you care, Vinyl was decent. Didn't need a 2 hour pilot, that was too much, but I am optimistic for the regular 1 hour format. Music! Arguments! People playing awkward versions of Robert Plant!
Perhaps most importantly, it was almost two real hours, not two commercially broken hours. I think it was like 1:52, which is lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng. I'm saving it for a weekend or something.
I watched 11.22.63, though, and it was pretty good. Also a two hour premier, but this one was 1:20 (i.e. two 40 minute episodes). But it was seamless. My only complaint?
Not enough Sarah Gadon.

I am finding that I am enjoying Lucifer far more than I thought I did. It seems each episode is improving as the actors and 'tresses get more comfortable with their roles.

I've been listening to the soundtrack HBO put up on Spotify today and it's making me look forward to this more, so I'm going to carve out time to watch it this week. Might be worth it just for the 70s musical rubbernecking of it all.

I want to like Lucifer but its insistence on trying to be an episodic crime drama makes it hard.

Lucifer is moderately amusing. But I don't see it lasting. Nor will I feel particularly sad about it.

My sports movies/TV shows peeve FOREVER is how hard it is to pull off a basketball one.
You didn't like He Got Game? Or White Men Can't Jump?
As racist as it might sound, there are few good basketball movies because there isn't an audience for one. White people have been nosed out of the sport for a long time now.

@Ganymede Hosiers.
-
@Ganymede I'm partial to Love and Basketball but even so... if you compare the top non-basketball movies to those you'll see the difference. Hell, the Mighty Ducks probably did better than any basketball movie ever made.

It's a show I like on Fox. That's a guarantee for cancellation.

As far as basketball entertainment goes, The White Shadow appears to be on Hulu. http://www.hulu.com/the-white-shadow Always enjoyed it in reruns when I was younger, though I haven't watched in years.

So Vikings is back.

@lordbelh I need to finish the last season, but man, I'm stoked.

I liked last season, and I liked the start of this one!

Did someone mention Venture Brothers? Because Season 6. Conjectural Technologies vs. St. Cloud? Priceless.
-
Hey guys, apparently House of Cards returns tomorrow.

Okay since nobody likes the same shows I do, I'm going to confess that I am obsessed with 'American Crime Story: The People vs OJ Simpson' I can't figure out WHY, obviously I have seen all of this before but the acting is amazing. The guy playing Johnnie Cochran could -be- Johnnie Cochran except he is dead so he can't. Somehow the conversations the lawyers have planning this are super tense even though I already know what they are going to do. I'd tell people to watch but no one will, so I'll just confess to watching so there is more evidence that I like things no one else likes.
-
@Gingerlily I watched the first episode, and I liked it. I've just not had time to watch anymore. See, you're wrong. SOMEONE DOES LIKE AT LEAST ONE SHOW YOU DO!
Btw, I checked out the Expanse. Actually liked.

Lately I've watched The Man in the High Castle and it was excellent! Can't wait for the second season. The Booth at the End is also good, reminds me of changelings and their deals.

The Booth at the End had a great 2 season run. I wish they had gone into a third but something happened with the writer and then Xander Berkley became unavailable.

I have only watched 4 episodes, episode 5 appeared briefly on On Demand as a choice but I watched the first five minutes and feel asleep and now suddenly it is not a choice, so what gives, cable gods? Where do I watch it NOW do I have to steal it? (I just wait for it to come back on as a choice is the answer)
ALSO in other things I watch that probably nobody else does but -maybe- a few, I love Downton Abbey obsessively, so obsessively that I -acquire- my episodes early so I can watch along with the Brits instead of waiting for it to come here, except for some reason no one wanted to share the Christmas Special on places where such episodes could be acquired in any kind of timely fashion so now I must watch it tonight, with the rest of the US, like a dork.
