@arkandel I know there's stuff people want to keep but man at some point I can't help but feel like it might be easier to archive certain important posts/threads in some fashion and then start a fresh forum. I know a lot will be lost but it sounds like any sort of migration is going to be either costly or damn near impossible and i fear we may hit a point where, as you mentioned, restoring functionality won't be available and we'll lose everything anyway.
I just saw an Arx cat tarot Kickstarter raise thousands of dollars in 24 hours, I don't think cost would be a difficulty.

Yeaaaah, I don't think money is the thing here, it's time/energy, both of which unfortunately cannot be purchased outright. Or we would.

Right. My priorities are:
- Ease of management by staff
- Ease of use by visitors
- Cost.
In that order.

Sometimes when Solstice has posted in a thread, the page is covered by a preview of the anime thread linked in their sig. Sometimes I can make it go away, sometimes I can't.

As in, it's showing the preview box of that link like if you hover over one? Even when you aren't hovered over it? Just want to make sure I understand what's being said.
-
Well, I see this as an absolute win.

Yeah. It doesn't happen often, and sometimes mousing over the link will make the preview go away. Other times I have to F5 to make it go away.

Weird. I'm trying to reproduce it and I can't make it stay.
Do you mind sharing what browser/OS you're using? Maybe I can try to re-create it there. The only other thing I can think to do would be to turn off the preview feature, which I think I can do without too much fuss, but seems like a cannon-mosquito type situation.

@derp Firefox and whatever the current version of Windows is.
I can't replicate it myself. It's only happened three, maybe four times since the switchover.
-
@greenflashlight Are you running any extensions that might interfere with things, like a wonky adblocker or whatnot?

Get an error every time I try to upload a new profile picture; it says permission denied at copying from temp -> profile. May be because I used the picture editor, will report back on that, just realized. eta: nope, even without any playing with the image.

Yeah. direct uploads are busted for some reason. I don't know why. All the appropriate file permissions are in the right place and yet we keep getting weird permission errors. I think it's reporting a symptom based on another cause but I've yet to track it down.
Other things currently broken:
-
Copy/pasting files into posts (for now just use the image link button and paste the url). Same issue as above. We should not be getting a permissions error. We are getting a permissions error. I'm thinking it's some other kind of error that it's just reporting as a permission error because it failed to move a thing. Still looking into it.
-
Ignored users. It's a plugin, not a base node feature, and it hasn't been updated. It is not compatible with the last year-or-so versions of nodebb, and was broken before the move. Until they update it, nothing to be done there.
-
Searching. This one is also baffling to me. It only searches back from the day the forum was installed, but the indexing is clearly there because none of the links to old-as-hell posts have broken. So it can see them. It can find them. But it doesn't search for them, and this is a setting apparently deep within the bowels of node that I haven't quite figured out yet.

Thanks, I should be able to get around it, with that! I figured there'd be a few things busted with the move, also figured reporting it was the way to go.

Just as a quick update to this thread for the people following along at home: copy/paste uploading seems to be working again.
