Tips for AI image generation?

What are your tips for generating artificial played-by's for your characters? What kind of tools are you using? And more importantly, has anyone figured out how to get it to listen to the eye colour you want???
I've used Midjourney in the past but the cost is a barrier and it will generate more of an overall "vibe" while ignoring any individual details you include. Also everybody has these luscious supermodel faces with huge lips that is somewhat off-putting.
