.... note to self. Keep a good eye on the goddamned phone. I just texted my accompanist asking her if she would feel up to doing a RECTAL with me at the end of July instead of a recital.
-
@Vorpal Well, would she? Plz answer OP!
-
@Arkandel
Result: I'm currently looking for a new accompanist.Just kidding. I've had my autocorrect pull this with her, so she knows my phone is the devil. But still.
-
@Vorpal Have you been talking about alien abductions too frequently again?

Last of Us was released on PS3 and PS4, and was just remastered on the PS4 back when I got my PS4 so maybe 5 months or so?
New PS4, do you mean the 4.5 that isn't out yet, or the PS4 that's out now? If you mean the new one, yes, it's all supposed to be backwards compatible, but the 4.5 is geared towards 4k resolution and be better for VR.

Some day I will buy a PS4 just to play this game. Will the new PS play it?
Yes, because you can pick up the Remastered version, which includes the Left Behind DLC. I highly recommend it.
The Remastered version was one of the first releases for PS4, and it still goes for around $40, used. It's that good; it's that popular.
-
Cheaper still if you buy the PS4 and then wait for it to go on sale and buy it digitally.

My roommate was on disability for a while after their fibro diagnosis, and their birth mom -- who is kind of a mess and has historically been super awful and unreliable -- offered to pay three months of my roomie's rent to help them out. We just found out that the rent was never paid (and she never told my roommate)and our landlord is suddenly like, hey you owe us two and a half grand. My roommate never asked me to help pay it when they sat me down to tell me what had happened, or even implied anything, but they don't have emergency resources/family with money to help with things like this, and I do and also have savings, so I'm just -- paying it. I'll probably never see the full amount again, but it's still better than my roommate -- who is a kind person even if they are not as responsible as they should be -- taking out some awful predatory payday loan or something. (Someone stole their identity years ago and did a number on their credit, too.)
This on top of a whole mess of work stress and family death anniversary and I literally just broke down last night talking to them about this. I'm not even angry, I'm just exhausted.

Upvoting not because of the situation (I am so sorry, man) but because you're a really, really, really good person. Thank you for doing this for your roomie. As someone who has been utterly hammered a number of times through my own stupidity combined with some fairly unfortunate events...thank you. It's people like you that make the world a livable place.

That's very kind of you to say. I feel pretty conscious of the fact that I've definitely been afforded some very distinct advantages in my life. When I got into my own money-related issue last year due to a combination of issues -- the kind of thing where other parties were being incompetent but I should have triple-checked -- I was able to call my family for help. I know there are a lot of people who don't have options like that when they get in trouble (including my roommate). I'm not saying that this was a totally easy sum of money that I won't think about, but I can afford to do it.

I meant the just announced PS Forever or whatever they're calling it. When (when, I say) the next Last of Us comes out, I want to be able to play it.

Fucking scalpers. It's a pain to get special editions, and seeing people list a dozen of them on ebay at stupid markups.
But that's not necessarily my main beef. Target sells Funko Pops. Sometimes we get exclusives. And there's this jackass who always comes in for said exclusives. Lately, we haven't gotten in our shipment of those zurr-whatsits Batmans and some others. The Suicide Squad pops sold out inside of a day, aside from a Boomerang. Joker's Pop? Yeah, that was sold out within minutes of the store opening.
This dude has been calling us RELENTLESSLY about them. No, we don't do preorders or holds for them. Jesus. Today, he comes in and bitches at us that 'YOU GUYS MUST HAVE FIRST DIBS, HUH?' No, you fuckwit. What part of 'we haven't gotten our shipments and we only got TWO Jokers' do you not get? Every single fucking special release, you're here to scoop them ALL up. Not one or two, nope. You gotta have them ALL.
So yeah, we're onto you. We know you're a scalper. Sure, you don't run afoul of store limits and you game them by bringing friends. But you're still a douche for bitching at us, hounding us and generally being one of those assholes who ruins the fun of special editions for everyone else.

@silentsophia
And this is why I am glad that I ended up stopping working for the stock portion when I worked for TRU (though that didn't always help, but the other departments at least dealt with it less). Assholes who wanted chase figures made me insane. -
Those things have made people fucking nuts. Now, I like some Funko, but goddamn the scalpers.
I went to ECCC this year. 2nd day. Got there super early so I could be early on in the vendor hall lines. Have a friend who collects and there were a couple exclusives she wanted. I got in to find that every single (they sold X amount of exclusives each day) exclusive sold out BEFORE they opened the doors to attendees because of the vendors buying them all up.
Spoke to a guy later in the day who had a VIP pass, which let him in earlier than the standard attendees. He said even he wasn't able to get any... because of the vendors.
I put some of the blame on Funko for how they do this, but a lot of it on the resellers.
-
Yeah, I like some of the funko, too. I have a civil war Bucky, a Christmas Groot and some Deadpools. Resellers are frustrating. That's a bummer about the ECCC thing.
And I wouldn't mind it so much if he just wanted one for himself. But no. This fucker never buys just one. He buys THEM ALL UP. And just the exclusives. He's a really obvious scalper/reseller. It's just - ugh. The constant calling, repeated visits, accusing us of hoarding them for employees (we aren't allowed to buy or hold things while on the clock), etc.
RABBLE RABBLE GRUMP. I just wanna buy my sister's friend her special Batman and be done with it.
Edit: I won't even lie. I'm totally buying a Dory funko this weekend. FEEEESH.

Way better than buying an actual fish, which is what a lot of parents will be doing after the movie comes out, leading to a lot of those fish dying because they're very expensive and difficult to care for in captivity.
-
@silentsophia I looked for a Yoda Funko so hard. There's none!
What the hell people!
