      Hey,

So this morning a friend of mine was asking me about some graphical stuff. Well he was asking me to ask Hex (my GF) about some graphical stuff as she is a professional designer. In the conversation it was revealed that photoshop would be required to do the task that they wanted. Thus you end up with the age old do you pirate it or buy it problem. That's crappy for adobe and crappy for potential users but Hex had a solution.

      https://krita.org/

This is an open-source and free competitor to adobe. It has replaced adobe in one notable art school in Europe and has a vibrant and active community. So if you guys are ever needing something more powerful than MS Paint, this might help you out. Also Griatch from Evennia is featured with an interview over there https://krita.org/item/interview-with-griatch/

Nice! Gimp is also a common free alternative to Photoshop, if people are looking for programs.

I use Gimp and I am by no means a graphic designer (or graphically competent in any fashion) so that says something about it's ease of use for us amateurs.

I'm definitely going to try Krita. I don't work much in digital mediums because I could never find much that I liked to use other than pirated Photoshop and Illustrator. But that's more trouble than it's worth these days. Thanks for the suggestion! 🙂

Manga Studio 5 is still on sale for fifteen bucks. Pretty much the only thing I use for digital drawing and comic making these days.

I like SAI as a possible contender for manga creation. It's not free, about 50-60 bucks, but it's got a 30 day trial and I found it really pleasant to use and more focused than photoshop.

I found that the Stabilization option in Manga Studio is the best thing in the world if you want to draw with a tablet. It makes drawing and sketching so much easier.

Krita also has line draw stabilization - multiple variations of it in fact. I don't use it much myself but for certain things it's certainly useful.
