Which MU* telnet clients are still popular?

@Arkandel Argh sorry I should have been more clear. Duck is a client for Chrome itself. Since I was just using it, it was on my brain and I forgot to add context for you.
-
@Templari Hm, this has window spawning and Chrome's own spellchecker. Interesting - thanks for the tip.

@Ninjakitten The deal breaker for me on Potato was it's grab command is only compatible with PennMUSH. Doesn't work with other servers.

You can always do something like this:
&CMD_EDIT me=$edit */*:@pemit %#=FugueEdit > &%1 %0=[get(%0/%1)]
(On Rhost, use @pemit/noansi instead to prevent parsing of %-ansi codes.)
This creates an 'edit <obj>/<attr>' command that works just like the /grab command, and will work on any MU* server.

@RnMissionRun I did do exactly that.....saw it posted somewhere else. I use Potato when I am coding, so that I can respond to pages and other chatter, even posts while working on a line of code. The dual input window is great. I use Mushclient when not going to be doing any coding because I have all my triggers and spawns already set up there. + Mushclient will take scripted addons. I don't have to wait for them to be included in the next build. That is one of the plus sides of a community.
Both are good clients.

Can you verify if this is the case with Rhost? I know I worked with Mike/Talvo on Potato to help fix some Compat issues. I thought this was one of those that got fixed. I even put in a @decompile/tf to mimic Penn's requirement.

@Ashen-Shugar /grab for Potato works fine on Rhost, and Penn. Not so on Mux 2.0. Those are the only 3 types of servers I've been on lately.

@Lilli I can't imagine coding into the game directly, I'd screw things up. Even using notepad++ to check for unclosed code... I still miss them sometimes heh.
Way braver than I am.

Well coding on a MUSH and directly coding over code are two different things. I code while on the mush on my own objects and test them till they work the way I want, get it approved, then it gets moved to wherever? So not directly affecting existing code.
I'm not that good of a coder. I can code just about anything eventually but can't say it would be by far, the best way. There are professionals out there. My ex can......look at code in a language he's never seen and be fixing it in a matter of minutes to hours.

@Griatch your first mistake was assuming people updated their telnet clients. Your second mistake was assuming there aren't people who use zmud.
SimpleMu, Mushclient, tintin++, Z/Cmud, Atlantis along with any number of archaic java clients that the websites that used to host them no longer offer them. See the mudmagic client, mudconnect client, mudbytes client and others.
Off the top of my head:
SimpleMu/Mushclient/ZCMud are mostly used on windows though Mushclient works under wine. However, most people on linux use...
Tintin++ is mostly used on linux because it has some good integration into the linux stack and is CLI based, meaning it doesn't have to get in your way. Also people that use linux like their CLIs.
Atlantis is the mac one. There are others but we don't talk about them, we use Atlantis. Some people use TinTin++ on mac but not many. (Seriously though, the others are either unfinished, half broken or just don't work.)
This is just based on the average discussion around those specific communities.
I agree. Atlantis is the huge one on MAC.

I love Atlantis. I use mukluk on my android phone and even manage to RP on it sometimes, it's amazing.
-
I use Atlantis on my computer and Mukluk on my phone, and am big fans of both. Have tried other things, but haven't found anything nearly as good. Used to use Savitar (I think that's what it was called? Has anyone else used that?) awhile back, but that was before I found Atlantis.

I used to use SimpleMu almost religiously, until I got a newer PC and it stopped being compatible (text size was minuscule and there were no settings to adjust it) due to the lack of support.
I used MuckClient for a while, which was nice because it had an integrated spellchecker, but it lacked a lot of the functionality of other clients.
Eventually, I got convinced to give MushClient a try, and that's pretty much been all I've used for the past few years.

Hello @Wolfsong! I, too, follow the tenets of our Lord and Savior - SimpleMU.
You can change the text size, font, color... anything. If you need help drop me a line and I could help tonight when I get home - unless you want to continue with your heretical ways, of course. Hey, it's your soul.
-
@Arkandel It's okay, I'm content with my heretical ways at the moment. It's been a few years, but if I recall, the issue wasn't so much being able to change the size of text inside the individual windows (which was fine), but the fact that the headers/menus/etc. were stuck at something close to a 4pt font. I haven't tried it on any more recent PCs, so it's entirely possible that it was an issue with the PC I had at the time.

I have always, and will always, use SimpleMU. It has everything I want, outside of 256 color, and I'm comfortable with its use.
